May 2nd, and the resort is really coming to life.....
We're open, as is Elizabeths, the supermarkets, and Vasia opening tomorrow.

Both Spiros Bikes and Pegasus Bikes are open, ready to supply scooters and quads.

Manthos is open, as well as 2 Stars, joining Yiannis gyros and Tasty Corner, both of whom have been open a while.

Lots of activity around the resort, with last minute painting happening at Acabar, and Thomas Bay, and cleaning at Condor.

Zorbas and Yiannis taverna have their menu boards out, so possibly open tonight, I would guess definitely tomorrow.

3w's also opened their doors today, and Town Pizza is also open.

Quite a few of the hotels are opening and receiving their first guests tomorrow, so Summer 2019 is here! 8)

Yes, it's quite amazing how much recyclable items we all use on holiday.....water bottles, suncream bottles, food packaging etc. Last year we had literally a mountain of empty plastic bottles in our shop's back room, as also didn't want to add to the situation. When the Arillas recycling opened, we just about filled the car with them! At least we have more space for stock now though  ;D

Yes Lesley, we should definitely all be promoting the recycling, to help keep the resort as clean as we can! I've used others, and they're a fantastic asset to the communities....when you see how much can be recycled, it can only be a positive step towards reducing the load on the landfill problem.

Having had a nosey through the window today, I can tell you all that the old Tereza's shop next to Peli and Maria's is now the village recycling centre!
As many of you know, Corfu has had a long running rubbish issue, due to problems with the landfill sites. Over the Winter lots of recycling centres have sprung up all over the island, and having used the one in Roda and Arillas, I have to say they are doing an amazing job, especially as they are run by volunteers.......when you see how much is going for recycling and not to landfill, it can only be a huge positive for the island.

I am not certain yet if it will be open all Summer, but if it is, hopefully everyone, local and tourist alike will get into the habit of using it!

All busy busy in the resort, with all of us trying to get as much done as possible before Easter. Unfortunately the weather isn't being very helpful, as we are currently sitting under a cloud of Sahara dust, with leaves a fine film of red dust on everything....not helpful for cleaning!
Pressure washers are out, and lots of painting being done to spruce places up, saw Bar 38 Spiros wielding a paintbrush today  :)

Lots of work going on in the new businesses......Juice Bar has had a paint job, work going on in front of new taverna opposite the wood shop, chairs outside of Mythos' new taverna opposite Little Prince, landscaping in front of old Chilly Chilli site, and it appears there are new businesses going into the empty premises next to Olgas travel, and between Zorbas and Brusko.....
So much going on this Summer!

As you can imagine, so much preparation happening in Ag Stefanos at the moment. The weather is great, and Easter is coming (next week here in Greece), so everyone working hard to get as much done as possible before the Easter celebrations!
Popped down late yesterday afternoon, and lots of pressure washing going on!
Pools are being filled, chairs and tables are being cleaned, and buildings being painted.
Yiannis grill room has been open a few weeks now, and is now joined by Tasty Corner, both are pretty busy keeping both locals and tourists fed and watered....not that many visitors at the moment, but the ones that are here are enjoying some fabulous sunshine!  8)

Now we're into April, work is commencing all over the resort!

I popped down today to do some preparation myself, and lots of people were bust beavering away.
Spiros was pressure washing at Silver Star, painting going on at Little Prince, and The Juice Bar is now a different colour.

Lots of work happening at Chilly Chili's ex premises, as someone new is taking it on, and making some changes, so that will be interesting.

And, yes Kernow, Manthos' has also had a fresh coat of paint and some work, also by the new tenents.

Yiannis grill room has been open a couple of weeks now, and is doing a great job of keeping us all fed and watered, and it looks like Tasty Corner will also be open soon, so us workers are being well catered for.

The beach is still lovely and wide, although it was a bit breezy down there this afternoon....the wind is increasing, and some dark clouds are looming. Rain is forecast for tomorrow, so we may lose the sun for a few days.  :-\

Well, we have been very spoilt with the most fantastic weather here for the last 10 days or so, warm and sunny, just a little chilly at night.
We went down to Agios Stefanos this afternoon, just to do a little preparation on our shop, and to take Bod for a walk on the beach, which is looking lovely at the moment. Quite a few others enjoying the beach this afternoon too, including some other dog walkers, and the microlite flyer who is there quite regularly at the moment.

The resort is slowly beginning to come to life, with some businesses beginning to start to do some maintenence in preparation for Summer, with some painting going on at Manthos and the Juice Bar, and some work in the garden of the former Ozzy Oil for the new taverna that is opening there.

And, we're also lucky enough to have Yiannis gyros open early this year, so we enjoyed our first gyros of the year sat outside a couple of days ago.

We've had a fantastic, warm sunny weekend here, so was the perfect time to head down to the beach.  8)

Bod had a great time, heading straight into the clear, calm sea, and the beach was quite busy with walkers.

However, there was also a guy with a microlite, who loves to take off from the long flat sands, who unfortunately causes Bod to bark like cray, so we had to cut our little jaunt short......bet the view from up there is amazing though!

Not much going on in the resort, but it was Sunday....

Well, we've had a whole week of heavy rain.....went to Ag Stefanos yesterday, and the roads down the hill were running like streams, and the road quite flooded just past our shop, between Nafsika Hotel and Beachcomber. Fortunately Beachcombers are used to this, and blockade their steps with wooden barriers to stop the water flooding into their premises!

Another change for this year....Tania has finished at the Juice Bar, but the good news is that someone else has taken it, so it will open again this Summer

And,  there is work going on in the old Ozzy Oil building, so watch this space for more information, but looking like it won't be empty again this year, which is great news!

San Stefanos news and views / Re: Beer we go again! Alfa, Fix or Mythos?
« on: January 26, 2019, 11:30:38 AM »
Prefer Alfa. Might just be me, but since they changed the tops on the Mythos bottles, it gives me a thick head, and that's only after one!
If I'm having draught, it's the local Corfu Ionian Gold for me, although we can't get this on draught in Winter.
