Is that 490 Euros for one person of both at half-board?

The prices change almost weekly. Just keep tracking them and jump when you reckon it won't go much lower. Two weeks at LP varied for the same July fortnight between £486 and £623 earlier this year. I did it at £492, which wasn't a bad guess!

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Eating Out 2011

Great report from lofty.

My only issue is that I find the portions mindbogglingly huge in most places. This can be quite off-putting.

I don't eat large amounts, so usually have to take some food bags to scoop at least half in secretly to chuck away later. I reckon the amount of lamb when I had my last lamb with apricots in Zorba's was enough for three of us for a Sunday dinner. This is a bit sad. There is no point in asking for smaller portions - the village is geared to vast eaters.

We've taken generally now to making up a small meze and avoiding the vast main meal events.

Lofty - latest news says the taxi strike is continuing indefinitely. Might be worth checking with local sources to see what the status is on Corfu.

Booked one way flight... Couldn't afford not to.

Nice to know you'll still be there whenever we go!

Transfers were a nightmare for everybody yesterday. The taxi drivers were on strike, so those doing private transfers were facing a lot of problems.

The traffic was appalling right across the island, apparently. The bus was half an hour late picking us up, and then waited for another twenty minutes outside Arillas for two people from St George's. This stationary coach with the engine running made at least one woman sick, and Gillie turned from brown to green. The traffic around Corfu Town was near grid-locked, and by the time we reached the airport the flight had started boarding. So it was straight through security (where they insisted on separately x-raying the Kindles, which they didn't at Doncaster), quick pee after nearly two hours on the bus, and literally last onto the plane. At least that avoided hanging about in the departure lounge. Plane took off exactly on time, and got back early.

The one comfort, as I pointed out to several people, was that there were twenty people on the bus going to Doncaster, and the plane would have to have been held for that many. So this was a circumstance when being on a Thomson bus to a Thomson flight was a better option than being stuck out in limbo with no taxi on a DIY trip.

There's no sign of any storms on any weather site at the moment, and zero cloud here for ten days now.

Been to Corfu Town a boat trip today. In the town it was like walking under a grill. Too hot to go up the fort. It was even hot in the air-conditioned Byzantine Museum. It was even pretty warm in the sea when the boat stopped for swim break. And it's definitely hot here still  - over 90F at 6:30pm. In a way, it needs a storm - the humidity is very high.

Loftyscot and I experimented with the cooling powers of Mythos last night. This effect lasts for about fifteen minutes and needs constant renewal.

It's not all bad!
