We're staying at Anatoli from July 15th, so we'll see you there! Very handy for great nosh at Nafsika - and the pool there is lovely.

In case any new people are worried by this thread I suggest you look at this video of a walk along the beach.

There is not one scrap of rubbish in sight.

Here's a suggestion:

Lesley finds out how much it would cost to have a litter bin up the nudey end. We then start a subscription fund, say £5 each, and donate a bin, with a suitable inscription: "Donated by the Friends of Agios Stefanos."

Or, given its location: "Stick your rubbishy bits in here!"

Actually - I went to Vision Express.

I seriously have never thought of it as messy beach. I will inspect it closely in July. For me, it's never been an issue at all.

To be honest, I've never thought the AS beach to be messy, even at the Nordic nudist end.

Beach beds from Mango include free water AND an ashtray. How posh and sensible is that?

Some of the stupidest and rubbishy postings on Facebook are by me. I can't help it. I've talked to the doctor on LinkedIn and he's made an appointment to see me in July 2015.

We're with you on this. We want the village to prosper and keep its unique friendly character.

I'm a bit annoyed. I've been working on a screenplay called "Mouzakitis and brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and cousins and sons and daughters."

Never mind. I'll change the title to "Spiros." Guaranteed audience, release date December 12th.

Good feeling to be booked. Now we need the pound/Euro rate to improve!

I'm sure Spiros/Spyros/Speros won't mind if I explain...

The Greek name Σπύρος is a short form of Spyridon - as in the patron saint of the island. The third Greek letter is upsilon, which is maybe halfway between the u in "put" (southern English pronunciation) and "ee" like in the vowel in "peach." English does not have an exact equivalent of upsilon, so the normal transcription to English characters is either i or y - Spiros or Spyros.

Spiros (and cousin Dmitris - Little Prince) were educated in America. Americans are utterly incapable of pronouncing any foreign language correctly. They will almost always pronounce a "foreign" i as "eye" - for example the ancient city of Delphi, which should be pronounced THE-ell-phee they will say as Delph-EYE.

Spiros told me he was fed up with having his name pronounced SPIE-ross, so he at first altered it to Speeros for popular consumption, and then thought that was inelegant, so contracted it to Speros. Like so many things in life, these accidents of history remain, and depending on the weather, the phase of the moon and so on he will either write it as Spiros or Speros. Ultimately, it is Σπύρος.

Asking Σπύρος about his name is a good excuse to go and have some fabulous food at Nafsika. I'm already looking forward to it!

Ask him for the story. It's a phonetic issue, and perfectly logical.

SpEros is a pseudonym - like Waspman. There's a very good reason for it. Ask the man himself.

Jet2 from Leeds/Bradford still reasonable - but luggage is extra. Leave Monday 2:40 pm - arrive back ten past midnight.

Pool-sharing is one of the really nice things about the village. It's part of the idea of a relaxed and easy attitude, and why we like it so much.

As an alien, I have always felt welcome. Some places resent visitors from Planet Of The Beautiful.

This is probably the most expensive time of the year to book flights. I booked Leeds/Corfu in November for £244 each including baggage and seat reservations.

Just checked and about £60 more now.

After Easter is good, if you can wait.
