only trouble is dont think theyle be able to get near thomsons prise as flights are to expensive we have booked for may and september next year for £670 in may and £650 in september this is in the self catering block for 2 people including transfer the prise in september is £100 less than this year To book flights seperate can cost more than £500 for 2 people

Easyjet from BTL to Corfu and back - about £150-£170 per person. I guess via Gatwick flights are around £150 return - so one doesn''t need to use Thomson flights. I reckon if Leo charges say 250 euros/week self catering a couple could do 2 weeks for around £750.
Cheers

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Where we ate

I have to agree about the Little Prince, I really enjoyed our meal there.
Our worst meal was definitely in Ozzy Oils,
neither of us touched our main courses, they were inedible.
But, top marks from me go to Waves Taverna, where we had Sunday lunch.
The restaurant was full of Greek families, up to four generations, all having a marvellous time.
The sardines were delicious, as was the Mythos, and the service was prompt and attentive.
Perfect!
Of course, as others have said this is all personal opinion of the meals on those particular evenings.

We visited Waves on a number of occasions back in June, when spending the day on the beach, and the food was very good value with superb service. Never went on an evening though.

The one thing that baffled me on this holiday was the poor quality of the 3 Peppered Steaks I had. Had one in Little Prince, one in Mythica and I cant recall where I had the other one.
The steaks were pretty much cooked as I asked.....the quality of the steak at Mythica was better than that at the Little Prince. They just cant seem to get the sauce right though. All of them were really thick....consistency akin to a thick cheese sauce. They all seemed to lack proper peppercorns. It was almost like ground pepper had just been mixed up into the sauce.

I very rarely have a steak when on hols in the Med - it just ain't up to the quality of steak in the UK these days. Since all the BSE issue all those years ago, most beef/steak i've had in the UK in recent years has been excellent.
A lot of so-called steak in the Med countries is dire IMO.
Take the infamous sizzling steak at the Little Prince, for example - poor quality frying steak - a steak cut i don't buy at home.

As a few of the regulars have mentioned on here before - we all have different tastes.

I really can't work out why people go on about the Little Prince - the food is v.ordinary. As for Ozzie Oils, again nothing special. 2 restaurants we definitely won't bother with again, when we return to SS, probably in 2012.

For us the best is Mythica, followed by Olympia and Beachcomber and then Zorbas- hope Beachcomber sorted out the dessert issue from earlier in the season! ;)

About time to, if they decide to run with it.

When we stayed in June 2009 i told Leo he should do it - it's pretty obvious they have a loyal 'following'. The only reason we didn't stay there this June was because of the Thomson price of £1000+ for the 2 of us.
Good luck to them.

I am sure you all will  - but as soon as anyone see/hears or gets a nudge re the release can you let us all know.  I go have an email alert with EasyJet but just in case.  Cheers  ;)

Those Easyjet email alerts are useless - they usually arrive in your mailbox a few days after flights are released.

Just keep checking easyjet website - click on the drop down box where dates are shown and next years dates will start to appear about a week before flights actually do. Once you see the dates in the drop down box you know the actual flights will follow about a week later.

Aldis special offer today includes Mythos at £1.39 - also some other Greek bits and pieces.

Didn't have any in our local Aldi - in fact, there was no sign of any promo, so guess Mythos only available in some Aldi stores.

Information and help please / Re: Kiss Travel

As i posted on the site a few weeks ago - stay well clear of these budget operators - the global economic world has changed in last couple of years.

The option to save £30 - £50 by booking with a very small operator just ain't worth it. The global economic climate will see further consolidation in the tourist industry (and other industries) - small operators often rely on one or two specific destinations for their business and at the mo it is so risky!

For Corfu book Thomson (Tui), Thomas Cook or Easyjet flight only. I wouldn't even consider any other co. at the mo.

Thanks all....I never walked to Arillas last time, how long does it take? Is it an easy walk?

No need to go to Arillas - just go to the place opposite Ozzy Oils - he seems to be open until about 9 in the evening

Large beer 2.50 euros - although when i say "large" they're mostly 0.4L, so about 70% of a pint!
1L Carafe of Wine with meal, averaged about 9 euros.
2 courses, averaged about 10-12 euros, although some menu specials you could get a couple of courses for under 10 euros.

Only our opinion, but for the following:

Restaurants for food quality, variety and service - top 3 - Mythica, Zorbas and Olympia

Bar - The Condor

Enjoy! 8)

Hi Tredegar Boy

We are staying at the Fedra Mare in September and have booked an apartment. Are they as nice as they look as I cannot find many reviews about them?

Cheers

We stayed at Fedra Mare in June this year. We had a studio at ground level near the pool.
Lovely apartment; very clean and very roomy. All looks pretty new, as i think Dimi decorated in the winter. Fridge in there, air con can be used (pay extra). We didn't use air con because it kept so cool, even though temps were in high 20s, low 30s.
Only downside is there's no toaster or microwave in the 1 bedroom studios.
The apartments upstairs are 2 bedroomed and have two floors - H took me to se one whilst we were on hols there and they are nice as well, but i believe you'll need the air con on in those as they do catch the sun.
Enjoy! 8)
