What a disgusting show of pure greed that was, people trampling over each for a widescreen television! That's one American import we can do without.
Changing the subject,Easyjet are taking a long time to release their flights for September, still only available until the 7th,I'm sure they were on earlier than this last year. Ryanair are taking bookings up until October.

Easyjet flights for rest of September and up to late October are due out this week i believe.
Last year they were released 1st week of December because i booked our usual Sept flights to Portugal then.

Looking at weather model output charts for next few days indicates Corfu and the Adriatic, Balkans, Italy are in firing line for thunderstorms.

Where to stay / Re: Towel mafia at Romanza....

Thanks Gav.
We had a lovely curry at Perros when we last visited SS in June 2010; just fancied a change one evening from the trad greek food.
Lovely setting there and really friendly owners.

We did enjoy the fab Fedra Mare though, with Dimitri bringing our brekkie to the terrace outside our room in front of the pool, most mornings.

Is Fedra Mare's 'regular guests' policy, if that's the right phrase, relatively new?

We stayed there in June 2010 - booked the room with Dimitri in about Sept 09 i think - it was our first stay there and had no problem booking.

Loved it there and we're considering returning to SS next June, after a 5-year absence from Corfu. FM is on our list of possibles - seems we'll be lucky to get a reservation there if we decide on a return to SS.

I just done a quote for Fri 20 June 2015 from Birmingham for 7 days and Teresas b&b comes out at over £700/person but Thomas Bay on HB comes out at £400/person - work that one out!

Out and About / Re: Been thinking about trips!

We've done Corfu Town by coach - decent value and experience.

Love the boat trip to Paleo - done it twice. Last time we were in SS i think it left SS harbour about 9.30? Plenty of time in Paleo - enjoy a lunch by the water's edge. Back to SS about 4ish or thereabouts?

Perros does curry nights and apparently they are to die for!

When we were in San Stef in 2010 (our last visit) we had a beef curry at Perros (just fancied a change from Greek one night) and it was superb - beautifuuly cooked and tender beef, in a pretty hot curry sauce. Rice and chips - worth a visit.

San Stefanos news and views / Thomson Sale
« on: January 26, 2014, 07:20:25 PM »
Thomson seem to have a good sale on at the mo, for anyone looking to book for the Summer.
Just tried it out and one example is Nafsica, staying for a week on HB, last week of June, flying out of Bham - £780 for two incl 20kg of luggage.
Discount code to add in saves £40 on an already discounted price.
Cheers BB

It is one of those 'risks' when booking a package early.
My understanding is that flight time slots are not always 'sorted' when the holidays go on sale.
We suffered a flight time change when went to San Stef in 2010, with Ejet. Originally the flight out from Bristol was shown, at time of booking, as 6.30am, but a couple of months after booking, Ejet informed us the flight was moving back to 6 in the evening.

When oh when are Easyjet going to release the return flights from Corfu for late September 2014?? We booked the outgoing flights months ago but,
although I check regularly the return flights are still unavailable.I wonder why!!

the delay is sometimes due to them a/w the air traffic control slots.
i got impatient and booked my Bristol to Faro flights ( plus the return) the other day - ideally i wanted to return on Mon 15 Sept but instead am coming back on ths Sunday 14th.

By booking the outgoing flight and waiting for the return dont you end up paying 2 lots of baggage costs?

If you're in Corfu during the World Cup then i think that during the Group stages the latest games will kick off is 10.00pm GMT, so around midnight Greek time.
But by the time the knockout stages come, i think the latest kick off times will be 8.00pm GMT or 10.00pm Greek time.

You don't need to be a genius to understand that it's a matter of supply and demand, and with Thomas Cook using Easyjet for many of their holidays, the end result is that there are far less seats available for us flight only passengers.Could be that the days of really cheap flights booked well in advance have gone forever (Ryanair maybe an exception, but their flights don,t really fit with the  general Monday and Friday booking requirement) and we have to bite the bullet.Stiil it seems cheap to me that you can fly to Corfu from England for £300,whilst a taxi from Kidderminster to Luton is £140.
The good news however,is that Easyjet are to allow smoking on May 1st.

Yes, the Thomas Cook 'partnership' with Ejet is a factor, esp at the regionals. Seeing that from BTL on a number of Med/Canaries destinations. Plus, BTL airport is facing capacity issues on the more popular flight routes with people from S Wales having to use BTL because Cardiff airport is in crisis.
But like i said in an earlier post £300 is double what we paid in 2010 to fly Ejet from BTL to Corfu.

As for smoking from May 1st i doubt that v much, as i think it's banned out of the EU, so that's not true.

It's scary!! The prices leap at an alarming rate even while you're looking at them, makes you wonder if it's a big con trick and prices will drop when the
"panic"buying slows down. That said we bit the bullet and booked flights for June. Will be interesting to see if prices do go down .

Well i've just had a look at BTL to Corfu flights in late June/earlyJuly. Nearly £300 return!
In June 2010 we paid £150 return each.
So they've doubled in price in 4 years. Wow!
One reason we wont be in San Stef next year - we were planning to return after a 4 year absence.

I suspect the prices will fall again from next week.
