We use a taxi owned by two brothers who along with their family have become friends now.
We first used them 20 years ago (it was the father then) when the old carousel kept breaking down and we got fed up waiting so as soon as our bags were out we went out and got a taxi.
It was so different, and we rang them to take us back and ever since I ring the week before we are coming and they are always there for us.
We spend a day each holiday with them in their village down south.

There is a lovely taxi in San Stef  -Nikos,Maria knows him he lives near her.
He took me to the clinic in Agros 3 times when I fell in May this year and he did the running around to a pharmacy-Arilas is closed now.

I think people will be spending less at present as you say Jimbo.
Nikos Hoes is the "lovely taxi" in Agios Stefanos he has just started up on his own and I can thoroughly recommend him.He is an excellent driver and very reliable. You can email him at:     nikos.hoes@hotmail.com.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Manthos Taverna.
« on: July 05, 2019, 03:22:16 PM »
That's not good Winkie :( I didn't realise it was the people from Romanza who owned it  now, so I would have thought that the service would have been better. We were in Nafsica last night and there weren't many in manthos then.
Andreas from Romania are only renting from Manthos they don't own it. I'm surprised they weren't busy last night as Thursday is their party night. There was nothing wrong with the service when Manthos was running it ,the food was excellent and you didn't have to wait long and there was always a warm welcome.

There weren't many other places to eat . Waves was around then and Barras and Casablanca, which was next to Aspas Supermarket .Can't think of any more apart from the ones Benson has already mentioned.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Manthos Taverna.

Must say I preferred it when it was a good old-fashioned taverna, with Manthos in charge, than the more up-market version of recent times. We'll see.

I agree - Manthos and Beachcomber have the best sunsets apart from Akrotiri. They beat Panorama by a mile, I think.
Yes the new facelift looks very pretty but can't help feeling a pang of nostalgia for the old taverna and mine host Manthos.

I'll even miss the faded picture of roses that hung by the toilets and the other pictures painted by Manthos' wife. Gone are the days when Manthos used to sneak up with a lobster and frighten some poor, unsuspecting customer or invite you into the kitchen to choose your fish.
It was just the most relaxing place to sit and enjoy lunch or evening meal . I hope he new hosts manage to keep that relaxed atmosphere.

Swedebasher and,or, Tredagger Boy would you contact Anne Wenz Dourou on Agios Stefanos Facebook . She wants to put things right about Manthos and the taverna.
Forget the bit about "put things right" Anne just wants to contact you.

Merry Christmas to you Lesley. Been frosty and bright in Hertfordshire first thing this morning but now it has clouded over.

It's definitely seaweed, been there since the end of September. I'm surprised that the storms haven't washed it out to sea but it has gradually got smaller over time.

I agree Andrew. One of the first things I do each day, after checking my emails, is have a look at the San Stefanos webcam and say to my husband "it's a nice day in Agios Stefanos today" or "looks a bit stormy there".
But it's disappointing that there's nothing interesting to read and apart from the few people who keep the Word Association going the Forum looks like it's dying.
