A bit like the ridiculous law they dug up last year banning businesses from having illuminated signs outside.

Yes, I remember that one!
I guess we'll be having the same conversation again next year  ;)

I'd like to know that too. After denying that I'd ever join facebook I've finally weakened mainly because there is so little activity on the forum.

I don't think the problem is the lack of activity on the board, surely it's just that life in the village is slowing winding down after another summer season?

Now the Greek Government are trying to bring in another new law banning quad bikes from the roads.

The accident rates for quad-bikes are appalling, so it's possible to have some sympathy. For once, this is not a money-making event.

Rubbish, accident rates for 2 wheeled bikes are worse. Which do you have experience with Jim?

Here's what ABTA has to say:
https://abta.com/about-us/press/holidaymakers-putting-themselves-at-risk-by-hiring-quad-bikes

I have never ridden a scooter or motorbike - seen too many tourists who've removed a lot of skin when falling off. I did hire a quad in Agios Stefanos this year, but hated it and gave it back after three days. I didn't feel at all in control of it. I've owned and driven some very powerful sports cars in my time, I've driven thousands of miles over very dangerous African roads, but the quad was the only vehicle that's ever scared me.

That's the root of the concern: people who would never hire a scooter feel safe on a quad because it has four wheels. It's not as safe as one assumes, particularly (I read) when cornering or accelerating hard. Apart from the fact that the automatic gearbox was "snatchy" and prone to jerks when starting off, I found the steering remarkably un-positive and inclined to veer at the slightest pothole. You are an experienced quad-rider - I'm not, and I'm probably more typical.

Never been on a quad bike and I do worry when I see some people driving around who obviously don't have a clue, and the ones who stand their children in front of the driver,an accident waiting to happen.
But I feel sorry for people like Nikos and Spiros in Agios Stefanos have invested a lot of money in quad bikes, what will happen to them?
They must have got rid of most of their scooters since the quad bikes became more popular
