The problem is that the massive high pressure over Northern Europe that is giving the UK it's extended summer is forcing rain bearing weather systems in to the Med, this has occurred repeatedly this summer and has also resulted in a very poor grape harvest in the wine producing areas of Italy.

Until that high pressure moves expect more thunderstorms in Corfu.

Well, there's really only one way to describe today, and thats WET!!

Poor Barbara G, don't envy you waiting for a bus in that rain!

The day started dry, but by 10am the first rumbles of thunder could be heard, and the dark clouds started to descend. By Midday it was pelting it down, with big cracks of thunder!
This lasted until late afternoon, so unfortunately the day was a bit of a washout, with many keeping to their hotels.
However, it has stayed dry this evening, so people have been able to venture out in the dry for dinner.

The weather really hasn't been on its best behavior so far this Sept, and whilst it has put a bit of a dampner on some holidays, plenty of people have just taken it their stride, and said it hasn't put them off coming again, which is good to hear, as next year, you never know, it will probably be glorious!!  ;)

Friday 12th September 9.30am. Pouring with rain, thunder and lightning now and all night long, don't think anybody could sleep. Forecast to last on and off until Monday.
Another day confined to the hotel me thinks.

Yep, as Waspman said this morning, raining at 9.30, until about 11ish, then it started to improve.....Mr and Mrs Waspman made it out on their quad!
Also met ukouzo12 who popped in to say Hi.

Weather got better as the day progressed, so by this afternoon we had lovely blue sky, and the sun was shining..yippee!!  8)

This evening is a little quiet, but it is a changeover day, so thats not unusual....plenty doing the quiz in Thomas Bay, which is generally a popular night.

I've stopped looking at the forecast now, what will be will be, but as Ioanna, and plenty of people here have said, it's San Stef weather, which is still better than being at work!

The weather is going to improve quickly in Corfu on Monday as the northern Europe High Pressure begins to recede and the low pressure currently over Greece moves out towards the Black Sea.

Expect sunshine and 27c from Monday onwards, just one more dodgy weather day to go.

A lovely day today, sunny with just a fe wispy clouds, and nice comfortable temperatures.

Whats happening right now is an amazing light show over the Diapontia islands, courtesy of Mother Nature.
Just taken awalk down to the beach to watch it, and anyone who has been eating in any of the beachside tavernas, or have balconies overlooking the beach have been treated to incredible lightening lighting up the sky, and coupled with the clouds, giving of the most gorgeous flashes of oranges and greens!

It's certainly an up side of the storms, as it's a beautiful sight.

Well, the incredible lightening show last night turned into the most incredible thunderstorm overnight. As the storm moved in over Corfu, we had the lot.....sky lit up by sheet and fork lightening, high winds, loud thunder overhead, and rain coming down sideways!!

For anyone on facebook, if you can find Giannis Mazis photography page, there are the most amazing photos that he took, all taken from Arillas/San Stef.

So after a sleepless night for many, today started a little overcast, but soon brightened up to a lovely sunny day.
Although still overcast this morning, it didn't stop people heading to the beach to grab a sunbed ready for when the sun came out.

Tonight the air is very still, without even so much as a slight breeze here on the strip, so hopefully we're in for some good weather again now!

It hammered it down at Corfu airport today! Around 1pm. Fork lightening all round the airport!

Lovely and sunny again today, just a few fluffy clouds in the sky.

Quite breezy though, especially by this afternoon.

A quite quiet day in the village, as more people left for home again today.

Also, more couples here now than young families, so the village does take on a more sedate feel.

This evening sees slightly cooler temperatures, with a few choosing to bring an extra layer just in case they feel it slightly. Still great weather for sitting out though.

And a great view of the stars tonight due to a very clear sky.
