Baby stuff
« on: March 28, 2010, 12:13:36 AM »
We are going to San Stefanos in August with our 1 year old girl, and wondered if anyone knows what availability of nappies and jars of baby food was like there. Also, do most of the restaurants have baby high-chairs available.

thanks.

Hi Russw
No problem!
You can buy baby food in all the local Supermarkets, bit more pricey than at home.
Best ones may be ASPA and Margarita's Supermarkets, which are pretty big.
If you want to save money, take a trip to the big Supermarket on the crossroads in Sidari, and stock up!!

Most restaurants will have a baby chair, but I am sure someone like Lilolil who lives there can be more specific.
Anyone else who has used a high chair?? Please say where!!
I am sure that Kerry at Ozzie Oils has one - she has young children herself.

Where are you staying? and we can be more specific!!

If my family were babies i would have no prob taking them to ss! The locals will undoubtedtly sort out any practical probs and the  only down side i can see is getting kids back at end of holiday! Jsu expect things like nappies to cost more!

I forgot to mention, in Sidari there is a Hire shop that can hire you any child related items you need, that will save you paying any weight charges on the plane.
Sidari is a short bus journey away - or Taxi! If Interested - let me know and I will try to find the details for contact.
I believe they deliver/pick-up as well!

Thanks for all the feedback. As long as baby food is available we will be fine. We coped in Greece when our son was that age (which was a fair while ago now) so we will adapt to what ever is available. I remember being in Crete (Elounda) and finding a jar of Greek babyfood that from the picture looked like chicken and sweetcorn. He loved it so we bought the whole stock to last us for the holiday.

Thanks for the tip about Sidari but I suspect that pure bone idleness may prevent me from even catching a taxi. My usual holiday plans go something like this:

DAY 1: studio..beach...studio
NIGHT 1: studio...taverna...studio

and repeat for 14 days. Nowhere does relaxing quite like Greece.

We are staying in the Vicky Apartments so not expecting to burn off too many calories from the walk to the beach.

quick additional question. Are the roads around the resort busy with cars and bikes at night? From the photos I have seen there didn't look like there was any pavements in the resort (actually thinking about it I think Lassi in Kefalonia is the only village in the whole of Greece with pavements).

thanks

Russ.

There are now pavements on one side of the main street, but not everywhere.
Traffic & bikes are there but fairly light.

Just to add re the sidari point.  Micky at MountainMania will deliver to resort and depending what you need you can also prebook and if you go to www.corfuselections.com,  Sidari and MountainMania there is a voucher for discount as well.

Thanks Lesley, saved me from searching my PC for the link.
Such a handy shop for lots of people, and the Owner/staff are really nice and helpful.
