Title: Live Music in San Stefanos
Post by: brianbarnes on May 30, 2012, 04:33:38 AM
Hello all, as said in a previous post, me and my wife Sharon will be coming to ss for a week 4th - 11th June, just wondering about live music in the resort, particulary traditional greek music (or any other country really), not really fans of the backing track western Karaoke type stuff (can get that at home every weekend).. I guess there would be Trad music at some of the Greek nights.  But do like my music live and played with real instruments, being a folky musician myself. So is there any bars we can look out for that would accommodate our tastes..., even if it is piped pre-recorded music in absense of any live music...... Any advice would be appreciated, I know I maybe clutching at straws.... Bri

You will have to look around, but there used to be a Greek couple who played odd nights in the Athens Bar and Sunset in years past.
Husband and wife team, they played guitar and bouzouki, a mix of Greek and Country / folk type music.
I forget their name though!!
It was brilliant, but maybe one of the locals can update on this please.
Other wise, lots of good live music, via Keith at Athens Bar, also Groucho (Steve) - but may not be your taste completely,
however I think they are great and make it a fun evening!
There may be live Greek music in Avliotes Village - or impromptu in one of the bars like Kamini Bar - seen it there in the past when someone turned up and played.

Greek night on a Sunday at Romanza Hotel, two older Greek gentleman play live Greek music all evening.
Then you get improptu dancing from some of the locals who always seem to attend this evening.
Oh and the food and views are amazing, well worth the walk up the hill.

Keith at the Athens bar is "The Accoustic Jukebox." Well worth a night... He covers all tastes. Had a very entertaining nights entertainment from him last September.
Sunday has Andy Rock playing at Summer Dreams. Another good night had there.
Groucho plays a lot of blues. A late folkie hero of mine turned me onto the blues. Rip Bert Jansch..

Jules, we've had some good nights at the 3 w's, live music a couple of nights a week, last year a rock / blues type singer from London area, very good entertainer actually, add to the mix happy hour ( or 3 ) cocktail specials and good company, a fine night out and a pleasant change from some of the more traditional bars.
