Likewise, booked Monday after watching the prices drop. Romanza end of July £579. Over £500 less than a month ago for the four of us. We found the same flights were so expensive it was actually cheaper booking with Thomsons than independantly.

Glad to see you enjoyed both the food and view at Romanza. We didnt try many other restaurants this year owing to the great food at Romanza but had vowed to try Fantasea following the good reviews this year.
We have to agree the food was very good there and Jacksi is right the portions were huge, even though the plates were massive they were still full. My daughter had a childs meal and to be honest it was a good adult sized portion. Friendly service too, well done Fantasea. Next years restaurant to try for the first time.......Evinos I think following the positive reports recently.

Woodman has a point ref there perhaps being too many restaurants. We have often wondered how they all keep going when even in peak season some only have a few tables taken. I know some of the locals think the same and the two biggest hotels are mainly half board so the other restaurants dont get much custom from their guests. Somehow though many continue to tick over, we just think they must be busy when we are not there!

Been back a week and have just booked for July 25th 2014, two weeks at the Romanza. Didnt think we would be booking through Thomsons next year as have been watching several dates since release during the school holidays for 2014 and they were all what I considered too high compared to previous years. However in the last few weeks the total price for the four of us has steadily reduced. When a departure from East Mids came up £650 cheaper for the four of us than it was a month ago it was time to take the plunge!
Will still be watching my shortlisted holidays though in the hope I did buy at the right time!

A strange lot at the nudie end we concluded. As we were at the end of the beach by Thomas boat hire we observed that the people walking past wearing by far the most clothes headed down to the nudist end, stripped off and later walked back wearing numerous layers again! Perhaps they are actually shy and body conscious?

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Panorama restaurant Afionas

Just returned from our two weeks at the Romanza. As we hired a car for a few days we passed by a restaurant called Panorama in Afionas. We stopped for a look and the views were amazing so booked a table for that evening. Have to say the food and views at sunset were beautiful. Can highly recommend it if you can get there http://www.panoramacorfu.com/restaurant/index.html

Day 7 for us and no bites on any of the four of us.
Follow strict routine with the repellant though and have seen people walking round with plenty of bites. I think some people are more susceptible than others. Previous years we have been bitten the odd time despite using repellant.

Jacksi, as you are staying at Teresa's you only have a short uphill walk to the Romanza, so are in a good position to enjoy the wonderful food there.
Other places we have enjoyed in the past are:
Manthos Taverna
Zorbas
Yiannis
Ozzy oils

For bargain and tasty gyros - tasty corner!

We plan to try fantasea this year following its excellent reviews and the new Mediterranean restaurant.

Jacksi - just wondered if you were on the same transfer as us. We are staying just up the road at Romanza so you may see us wandering past of an evening with our two girls aged 16 and 11. Have a great holiday

Jacksi / teambunny - Either of you on early flights Monday? We arrive at 11.15 and the transfer is normally doubled up with a Gatwick flight.

Where to stay / Re: Romanza Hotel (Part 2) -
« on: July 17, 2013, 02:51:27 AM »
Think most of your questions have been answered now.
Rest assured you have made a great choice, the food at Romanza restaurant takes some beating and is competitively priced with the rest of the village.
You will be able to get water from the bar at the Romanza when you arrive.
We tend to then do a bulk buy of water, pop, beer etc for the room from the small supermarket that Waspman mentioned. Purely because they deliver and lugging it up the hill will guarantee a sweat on!
If we are going to the village we use the road and if going to the beach the steeper but shorter path which runs from the hotel directly onto the quiter end of the beach.
When do you arrive there?

Where to stay / Re: Romanza Hotel
« on: July 10, 2013, 02:12:51 AM »
Now we love the Romanza, we are returning for our fourth consecutive visit at the end of the month.
HOWEVER, we have now visited over all the six weeks of the school hols and everytime the sun bed booking has been present. It is exacerbated by groups who always go the same weeks and meet up every year, block booking beds. Usually sending one early riser down to put numerous towels down, but then not using them til near enough lunch time.
Rod is correct this causes a domino effect, if we are planning a day at the pool we take our towels down and put them on a bed on the way to breakfast. We do go straight to the beds after breakfast though.
Now for the devils advocate bit; I can understand this bed booking because of the 'use any pool policy' in the village. Quite simply for my family to spend 2 weeks there is quite expensive, we are paying for two rooms and four persons at full price, irrelevant these days that two are children. So I would be really peeved if on a day we had planned to spend at the hotel pool, we were paying to stay at, there were no beds because visitors were on them. I appreciate there may not be an issue with bed availability most of the year, but in the six weeks school hols there is rarely any spare beds and guests from nearby apartments do use the pool. To that end I can see the towels going down on the way to breakfast again!

Mmmmmm, I'm with Gavlah on this.
Would be most unhappy if the hotel I had paid to stay at did not have sun beds available for us because non-residents were utilising them.
