Good to see the new road which bypasses Avliotes is well on its way, all being well it will be ready later this year. It will be a godsend to all.

I didn't see that in June, where exactly is it going to be?
I still love going through the village though - with all the local colour and that truely Greek feel!!

Tony, this new road starts at Koukanades by the pink villa near the ECO petrol station, it ends up on the SS road directly by the new Shell petrol station.( If you come through Avliotes and turn for SS it's that petrol station).
Personally as much as I like the Greek village feel I think it's going to be a good addition as it provides safety for the people of Avliotes and less of a hairy moment for us tourists albeit the drains are mostly covered these days, it's due to be open by the end of this year.

It seemed to spoil the view but what price progress? To my eyes it looked as bad as Wind Turbines! Each to their own.

What do you mean?  Does the road look unsightly or the wind turbines, haven;t quite got your drift

Nothing against change as long as it's unobtrusive! The new road looked like a scar across the countryside and wind turbines could never be deemed aesthetically pleasing!
