Car hire or not??

(1/1)

julie49:
We are off to SS soon staying at the Romanza.  We were wondering whether or not to hire a car for a few days or just to do organised trips?  We want to go to Corfu town, is it easy to drive to and park there?  We quite like to do a round the island trip as normally the commentary is interesting.  Is it cheaper to book them from a local agent rather than Thompson?  Any advice on what we should do appreciated.

Zimmer:
We are doing a Round Island trip by coach from San Stef trav, they seem to have a good name and will obviously be cheaper than the Thomson rip off merchants, there are loads of trips to Corfu town and a bus service, as for hiring a car? it repends on how confident a driver you are, the roads are narrow, and slippy...personally I wouldnt bother with the stress of it but it's a personal choice

Jules:
The San Stef travel trips are very good value for money and well organised.Do not use a tour operator as they charge much much more for the same trips. :)

you have a bit more freedom with a car we have one for 5 days but i think 3 would have been ok the trip to kassiopi is for the day and some people at the hotel felt it was to long to stay for them we went in the car and it was great but a few hrs was fine

Definately use San Stef travel - you will be fully insured as well, (Thompsons trick is to suggest that you won't be),
Car Hire is good fun, Corfu Town can be daunting first time, but is really quite easy once you get used to greek driving.
Whatever you choose will be OK.
