Romanza
« on: December 24, 2008, 11:39:55 AM »
Hi Folks,

I've seen on TripAdvisor that Leo and Jenny are leaving the Romanza to start their own place in the village.

Does anyone know any more about this?

My family and I are due to go back to the Romanza next year (26th June)

Read it on another Corfu website. They have got there own taverna just round the corner from Barras. I don't know the people mentioned but everyone speaks very highly of them :)

Many Thanks Jules T

Would that be the new bulding opposite Yiannis Grill ? That one was still being built last year I think.

We'll have to give it a try.

Knowing Leo, it'll probably be more than once !!

We never actually ate in the Romanza - I suppose that they ran the kitchen there?
I take it that it looks like a good place to eat?

Sorry Tony, I missed your question until now. Yes the Romanza was a great place to eat and I'm sure that this year, it will still be great even though Leo moved on to open Mythica with Jenny.

Does anyone know yet who will be working at the Romanza along side Kostas and Helene?

I can't see them allowing their hotel to change in its nature too much.

When we first stayed in the Romanza, about 10 years ago, Leo's Mum did the cooking and although the menu content was similar to the other restaurants in the village, the Romanza food was spot on every time. I think that it may have been Leo's influence led to the expansion of the menu into the 13 pages(ish) that it grew to. Still top nosh throughout though.

It will be interesting to see if the Mythica offers an international menu or traditional greek.

We're looking forward to seeing how the Romanza is too.

I had a look at the menu the other day. It's not extensive, but offers a good variety, and is average prices.

I can fill you in on the romanza but not Leo's whereabouts yet.
Our Friend Aleka who runs the reception at the Romanza emailed me yesterday to tell me that her sister Katy and Katy's son Andreas have taken over the restaurant and Alekas daughter Eleni will also be working there. Those who are regulars to the Romanza will remember Katy as she used to run the reception, she is a wonderful cook (we have tasted her food so we can comment) so it looks like we at least will be having a meal or two there. I am just waiting for a reply from Aleka as to what Leo is doing 8)
