George - Good luck with everything. We've stayed with you a few times and will check out the upgraded accomodation next year when we return yet again. Yr garden area is a real plus point and so quiet and peaceful. Hope you still have room for the hammock!!

We are going to San Stefanos in May and staying at The Athena, we have never been to Corfu before, does anyone have any comments regarding the Athena or should we try and change to an alternative accomodation

The Athena is a lovely hotel situated right on the beach. Personal choice as to what you actually want from your holiday would help you to decide. I think they are half board and many people prefer self catering or bed and breakfast so they can dine at all the different tavernas in San Stefanos. Other than that they have a lovely large swimming pool. Not having stayed in the hotel I can't offer any more than that. :)

We have stayed there a couple of times at the Athina, Staff are great but the food was a bit "samey" in the evenings.
We prefer to try different restaurants anyway, ourselves, but otherwise the Hotel is great - rooms nice and carpet on the stairs / corridors.
They do a competition there, if you can make the pool/snack bar manager smile - you can claim a free drink - (yeah!!),
Overall a good first place to stay - just treat your self to a few meals out to get the true flavour of the village.
Enjoy!! Tony C

Does anyone know whether the Olive Press is open in 2009 and whether the lovely Simone will still be running it? We had a fabulous holiday last year and she was so kind and attentive to us, supplying all manner of things - if she is no longer there, we will really miss her. Also does anyone know the best way to arrange transfers from the airport to San Stefanos?
Thanks
