We actually got breakfast outside here today. Okay we had to start with the fleece on, but by the time we finished it was lovely warm sunshine... Not quite the 28c it was in Corfu, but 19-20c suits us fine. Grass cut, now about to hack leaves off the tomato's and cut the none viable fruit and flowers to see if the rest will ripen. Waste of time in this country growing toms, so will stick to the successful garlic, chillies, broccoli and green beans next year... Reckon we mush have had 2-3kg of blueberries so far and still the same on just two potted bush, just hope Mr Blackbird stays off them!

Sounds lovely :) We've had a strange year in our garden this year. Not a very good crop of tomatoes, cucumber or potatoes. We have had random things dieing this year, all well established plants of 20 years plus. 2 rambling roses, 1 climber, a  buddlea tree and a few lupins. We think it was the  very hot May and wet June we had.  Very disappointing...

We've got lots of tomatoes turning red, we've had courgettes, and the runner beans are in full crop. It's breezy, but a lovely day in East Yorkshire.

Love runner  beans straight from the garden. Just cut a lot of leaves from the tomatoes, hoping the remaining few will turn red. We grew a beefsteak type this year called black Russian, it was so tasty and not many seeds inside, very fleshy.

Old (young) Monty was on Friday saying exactly that about your toms Karen, take off any leaves covering the toms and all under developed toms and flowers and of course they should be stopped by now. What I did not know was that it's not just the lack of heat and sun, but change in light duration that matters. He reckons we have until mdi-Oct then they won't do anything....

Yes that's where I saw it, Geordie. Love gardeners world! There was a nice article in the mail supplement about Monty don, he was talking about Nigel. Monty has got a book coming out, might get it. He's just become a grandad too. :)

Jimbo are these toms in a greenhouse or outdoor? I greatly miss my old greenhouse of 30 years, no suitable space for one here, so the few toms we have were grown outdoors and the most successful believe it or not were a few supermarket tom seeds scraped out and put straight into a couple of hanging baskets in June!

Outside. Three plants in a trough against a six-foot wall.  We didn't think many were going to redden, and were about to prepare to make green tomato chutney. I think they must have heard and felt ashamed!

people on beach now, with a dog??
Yes, it was a chihuahua actually.  We walked passed them today on the beach.  They had it on a lead and it was a delightful character, barking at the sea etc.  I know what you mean though.
