I wondered 'what on earth' when I read this and then I watched the news about the Blackpool Hotel. Bad reviews can be devastating (I would imagine the Blackpool Hotel will not survive) everyone has bad days, but their is no excuse for dirty rooms and broken furniture . Having said that the first port of call should be the Hotel itself first to see if they put things right. I see that the Hotel in question has now refunded their £100 charge, ( too late Think) .

Not much sympathy for the Hotel bullying customers - they should have invested in upgrading the Hotel instead of what is now bad publicity
