« on: August 14, 2013, 07:47:32 PM »
We are looking to book flights and hotels separately next year,  have been looking at monarch or easyjet just wondered if anybody had got any advice or recommendations that would help. Monarch have released prices and flights for next year but easyjet havnt yet s can't compare prices yet, any advice would be appreciated.

Depends where you are flying from - Jet2 are normally a good option. We live in Manchester and it was cheaper to drive to Leeds and fly with them than to fly from Manchester!

Easyjet flights from Gatwick and Luton should become available in September. Ryanair and Thomson fly from Stansted.

Having flown Ryanair from Stansted in Sept 2012 and Easyjet from Luton in June this year, our opinion is Stansted is the better airport but Easyjet were the better airline.  We had good flight times on both occasions, early flights out getting to SS by mid-afternoon and returning in the middle of the day, meaning we didn't endure a very early morning departure or hanging around in the resort. Getting a taxi transfer is a big plus too, at 45 mins its sooo much better than the 2 hour Thompson transfer bus.  We'd definitely recommend it, it works well for us.  As you said, Easyjet are releasing their April, May and June 2014 flights in early Sept.

No probs, £226 each, with priority boarding and named seats both ways.  We actually had to rebook via easyjet when Ryanair changed their flights from early morning to late afternoon, effectively meaning we'd lost a day of our honeymoon.  Another reason why we don't care much for Ryanair!

We paid £163 for Easyjet flights this June from Gatwick with priority boarding, booked seats and luggage.I think the secret is to book early for the best prices.

Those prices sound good and easyjet have better flight times than the monarch ones we were looking at, can't wait till they release the flights for next june we missed going to corfu this year and can't wait to go back next year

I guess our prices were up due to booking a bit later?  Hopefully we'll get them for under £200 this time, though as we're away for half term, I doubt it!

I went independent this year and didnt book my flights until April (for 5 Aug).

I paid £245 each with Monarch and they were night flights from Gatwick.   We had baggage on top of that.

I'm looking to book next year but the same flights are currently £369 with Monarch..........!

Interestingly you could have booked a return flight yesterday for £129.50 to Corfu with Monarch which was unbelievable.   Think I will wait until after Xmas and see what the state of affairs is.

Still undecided on accommodation for next year as well because not sure how many of the family are coming out again :)

The times of the flights is why I would rather book with easyjet than monarch as we like flights early in the morning if possible

They suited us for once as they were £100 cheaper each than the day flights and also our 3 son thankfully slept there and back rather than run riot on a day flight! :)

Yes can definitely see the advantage of night flights if travelling with young children
