Beechcomber/waves
« on: May 27, 2010, 06:38:46 PM »
Hi, can anyone tell me where beachcombers restaurant is, my husband thinks it is the same restaurant known as waves but I thought from seeing photos that the Beachcomber had an elevated terrace to watch the sunsets from. We had lunch at waves last time we were in SS and we entered waves from the beach.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lilly,

It's not far from waves actually, next to O' Manthos I think.  Tried it last year and found it ok.  It has very smart decor and the staff are quite professional, but my wife and I were not blown away by the food as others on this site were.

Beachcomber Bistro is located approx 100 metres along the road after margaritas supermarket as if you were heading towards the port.  It will also be open this summer during the lunchtime for light lunches as well as in the evenings.  The do now have their own webpage which will find located on the corfuselections.com website under aghios stefanos and then beachcomber bistro.  I am looking forward to meals there next week as family arriving and its one of their favs in aghios stefanos.

The Beachcomber Bistro is my favourite Place to eat.
It is exactly opposite the Nafsika Hotel, two doors before the Manthos Taverna and next to the Dive Centre which is opposite the Olive Press.
The Waves Taverna is one of the very oldest and is situated on the Beach, accessed by a little road just before the Dive Centre Shop.
Its also exactly as described by Lesley. The Waves is well known for it's freshly caught fish meals!

Everyone will find their own favourite, give a try to the Sunset at the far end of town, great fresh grilled sardines and excellant food.
My favourites are:
Beachcomber Bistro
Mythica & Ossie Oils (jointly)
Little Prince for the sizzling steak
Sunset Taverna
Waves for fish meals

But I also like
Olympia, Manthos Taverna, Zorba's, Paradise Restaurant, for Pizza Town Pizza and Mamma Mia's.

Elphita is brilliant, Romanza too, Aquarios, Athina Hotel (reasonable), Terezas - BBQ nights - fantastic,
the Golden Beach Hotel - quiet but great food, Olive Press - always used to be great,
Nafsika Hotel - excellent international menu, Summer Dreams (so-so), The 3 w's (???? not sure - never eaten there),
Tasty Corner, Yannis old Restaurant, Yannis Snacks, The Peros Hotel, The Rose Garden, Condor, Kapitanos -
and not to forget the rather nice meals in the Thomas Bay Hotel!!

Have I missed anyone who does meals???

My favourites are:

Romanza, try the Kokkinisto and their lunchtime salads
Mythica, try the meatballs, stuffed mushrooms and sofrito,
Little Prince try the sizzling steak and squid, Greek dancing too.
Nafsika, try the sofrito, stamna and mousaka
The Beachcomber serves good food but tends to serve international rather than traditional Greek food

Hi Waspman - I think I've only had one ''iffy'' meal in San Stefanos over the years, everywhere has been suitably good!
I have tried most of the above meals - at where you say as well, (over the years), but my first meal at the Mythica will now be the meatballs,
as not tried yet and as recommened by you - so I hope they are good - everything else I tried there has been!!
Have you tried the Mussels there - fantastic!!

I love the Nafsika's Stamna - really good!! - in fact all their food is!
Must make an effort to go to the Romanza as well this year so will also try the Kokkinisto,
The Beachcomber Bistro is different as it should be, after all an International menu,
is a nice change from all the other similar menu's.
We tend to go out and eat a lot of traditional Greek Food here locally, as we love it,
but it's nice to have a change during the holiday and have a special meal, with that Bistro difference.
Another reason why we also love to go to Ozzie Oils, is the different Menu, likewise the Mythica -
- - - - - - - - - - It's great isn't it?  So many great restaurants in a small place!!

It's - a case of, when you are there, So many Restaurants - so little time!!
This has made me feel Hungry - so we're off to the local Greek restaurant shortly!
