Major storm in resort this morning, prolonged lightening, deafening thunder and 2-3 hrs of torrential rain, the stream is a raging torrent, the bridge has been washed up the beach, which was divided by a 20 meter river!  For a while the street around condor was a river with sand and shingle deposited across the road....Then all calm ...the sun comes out in the afternoon and we have enjoyed lovely sun bathing this afternoon....what a place! Now we await the frogs and turtles return - they must have been washed out to sea. Called in to Hippopots to order our ceramic frogs...they are the only ones left in the village!

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Planning your eating out

Sometimes it's the flight day / times that dictate early plans...many late arrivals head to tasty corner for their first fix of the holiday. For us ,this year, we arrive on Sunday with 6 San Stef virgins, all staying at the Romanza , so Greek night  will get the holiday off to the best possible start....it's all downhill from there ...literally!

Where to stay / Re: All booked up!!??

8 of us booked direct with Romanza, Easyjet flights , (mid June ) and locally organised transport. 3 first time San Stef couples in our party, really hoping they all enjoy the village as much as we do.

Great post Jimbo, have never travelled to SS so late in the season, weather wise guess the mind set needs to run along the lines of whatever will be will be .Glad you did OK on that front. I would imagine flights and accommodation prices are a fair bit cheaper through October?                                           It must be strange to see shutters going up and tables and chairs being stacked.                       Anyhow we are returning next year with 6 San Stef virgins, we are hoping they will soon understand why it's the only place we return to.
Fingers crossed when the chairs and tables are dusted down in May that the beach has reset itself and the winter storms don't cause any further erosion.

The most viewed thread by a country mile ever Jackie, 150,000 views! well done, its great fun and a great service. It would be fitting if your next review followed this as reply number 1000 ! another great milestone, so thanks again. Ps the big frog made it back in one piece, he now guards the pond with the dubious name of Stan Seff!

Hi Nevets, we arrive on Sunday, asked the Romanza to arrange our taxi as we booked independent, we are paying E55 each way, same price as last couple of years, not sure how this compares with the airport taxis?

Thanks for the updates Jackie, much appreciated. Next time you're feeling energetic can you pop up the clay path to the Romanza?!   ;D I believe a new upstairs bar and first floor sun deck is near completion , could do with your expert eye for a progress report on aesthetics etc . Hope your painting goes well!

Thanks again for the daily news , we've been and gone to SS this year so the reports which once aided the countdown and anticipation levels have now been replaced by a tinge of sadness - as we can't get back any time soon .However your reports now  bring a sense of well being and understanding as you describe the comings and goings, we can picture the scene in our minds eye, so keep them coming. For the anoraks among us this thread has over 49,000 views ! and is well on the way to being the most viewed topic ever! No pressure then Hippopots !  ;D

Strong winds and a fair amount of cloud again this morning in San Stef ,cancelled last nights sun set picnic on the beach due to wind and cloud, looks like tonight may be cancelled again, most unusual weather, t shirts and shawls required around the pool at the mo! Just have to tough it out at the bar!! ;D

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Spoilt for choice 2014

Hi all, settled in to the resort now, all good with quite a few people out and about, many restaurants busy without being mobbed.highlights food wise up to now - brilliant fish in coconut at Nafsika,(great to meet Jimbo and Gilly there also ) lemon and thyme chicken at Ozzie oil was fantastic, lucky to be squeezed in last night! while the food at the Romanza remains second to none, wherever you may wander when you get here it's all good folks , and as relaxed and welcoming as ever.
