Great to have an update Jackie, thanks....I do hope the vacant lots are taken, especially the Ozzie oil pitch as it is a nice garden al fresco  area, near three w’s also . Maybe a bit far out for some people?

Nice to see the forum picking up again....clocks go forward soon , usually gives a boost as it gives the impression summer is on the way....having said that I still have a lump of snow in my garden here in Northumberland! Roll on June 3rd...Romanza villas for our first week  ;D

Hi Hippopots, need to call in again... lost one of our frogs in the last storm, ....would be good to hear reports of the village coming to life again if you can spare the time , cheers.

Hi folks, just wondering if I have heard correctly that there may be at least two vacant restaurant lots in the village this year? Is it correct Ozzie Oils is no longer trading and Captain Octopus has relocated elsewhere on the island? All the best and thanks to these folks if they have indeed moved on ( had some great meals in both - especially Ozzie Oils over the years. ) Any news on who may take over these facilities ?

It’s amazing how different the horizon and view can be at San Stef, we took some newbies a couple of years back and we were five days in before Albania could be seen ! Red hot but hazy enough to hide the mountains.

Good to see folks still checking in  :) Hope to see a few more as the weeks go on .

As usual for winter time the sea and beach are showing all their natural power at the mo , ( poor bridge ! ) It’s  always a bit of a guessing game re  how it will shape up by summer. Last couple of years , if memory serves, it’s  been quite wide again , still nothing like as wide as it used to be 10 - 15 yrs ago. Fingers crossed! We usually stay near the quiet end - Romanza hotel side.....I guess we all have our favourite spots.

Just checking if any of the old posters still check in on here? This was a vibrant and entertaining forum a couple of years back.
I note a pair of dedicated SAN Stef Facebook sites are ticking over....can we coexist ?  Is it worth setting a few topics away.......any of you old posters still out there?  A quick hello may just get us going again ? Yammas

We're enjoying an unexpected last minute break on a budget this week, many restaurants looked to be doing a roaring trade at around 9pm last night. Fellow travellers are reporting fabulous specials and bargains all around the village. For us the three course special at Yiannis restaurant, near tasty corner, was outstanding at 9 euros ! House white was also more than acceptable. Romanza food and hospitality remains top notch. Even though 1.12 is painful compared to previous trips, the village remains outstanding value. Enjoy it when you get here folks.

Agree re the welcome and facilities at Voula Gav, this week we are at the equally fabulous Panarama apartments directly opposite, but with full use of Voula pool and snack bar etc. Both have the most stunning aspects  with sensational viiews of hills and sea. Economically priced, those who are not fearful of the hill ( think fitness and vistas thrown in free ) should give these establishments some consideration.

Based on 2016 with 6 newbies  in the group , and on a late return as a couple we had the best food and atmosphere in Brusko, Beachcomber and Yiannis. Quite a change for us from previous years.

Early days in the reboot but no shouts for the newbies as yet? Could be mistaken but Brusko, Beer - O'clock, Chilli Chilli ( spelling? ) are all recent additions. Would these guys be up there with the traditional big hitters? I often wonder how location effects popularity .

Where to stay / Anyone returning in 2017 ?
« on: February 26, 2017, 10:53:42 AM »
Hi folks, as the days begin to lengthen and (fingers crossed ) storm Doris and the like give way to spring , thoughts of summer begin to creep in. So ... How many of us are returning to  San Stef this year. Where and why???
8 of us, four couples, returning to the Romanza - June 30th, ...Its the mixture of the tremendous hospitality,  great food , and of course  the best view in the village!

Whatever the reason, perhaps Greek economy,  severe local taxation and related impact upon the town council systems ? ....it was sad to see. Some ad hoc storage areas were on the verge of a health hazard. We took 6 first timers last year who naturally commented on the situation. Glad to say they are all returning this year as they could understand it was bejond the locals immediate control. I wonder if some first time visitors  may have left with a less positive impression and understanding? Fingers crossed it all runs smoothly this year.

Hi, hope the work on the new shop is going well ?  -  trying to picture this in our minds eye. If you are next to Beachcombers will you have a similar aspect ,  with front and rear terrace? Perhaps catching the footfall of both beach and village ? Hope it's going well!

Well folks how about this for a bump of a thread!
In this chain are a few recommendations and top ten lists for eateries in recent years...Are the big names still as popular...?? Would the newer restaurants from the last couple of seasons figure in a 2017 top ten? Would anyone like to set the ball rolling with a favourite three?
