If it's the same Allan then I'm sure he used to go walking for miles on end.  Super fit he was.

Hi does anyone know if there will be somewhere in San Stef where you can get the relevant covid test for returning to the UK or will it involve a trip to Corfu Town

I'm sure San Stef Travel are giving a service for testing.

Good work Dimitris.

I posted earlier in the Yammas Bar that the UK Government roadmap to recovery has hinted at international travel by 17th May.  My wife and I were lucky enough to have our holiday in San Stefanos just last September.  With restrictions in place I would say it was a success and not a problem at all, even at the airport.
Anyway, we are booked to go in June this year if Boris allows it.  If not then we rethink our holiday plans.  I do understand people's concerns however.

QR codes are used in the UK for track and trace which has been a bit of a failure.  In our last "lock down" scenario where pubs and restaurants were still operating, the QR system was great.  You basically signed in, ordered food and drinks at your table, without leaving your seat.

We are also optimistic, booked for 4 weeks from 16th June. We did book it last June after our June holiday was cancelled and got a good price. See you there! 🤞🤞
Well done Scottygirl.  We just might see you there.

Well done Jimbo.  It got me all nostalgic.   :'(

Oh God, Karen! Don't flake out on us! We need your enigmatic smile.  :)

I know all about pessimists - I live with one. I'm neither optimistic nor pessimistic about summer in Corfu. I am confident that the UK will have vaccinated a huge number of people before July. The EU? Not so sure.

Israel leads the world with its vaccination programme, and they are starting to see very good results. Charlie is, I think, absolutely right to caution about lack of caution. One of my favourite songs is "Going to Carolina in my mind" and if I can't go physically to Corfu I'll think of all the funny and lovely times we've had.
At bedtime after I've put my book/kindle down I find it relaxing to go for a walk around San Stefanos.  It's all my imagination of course and I often change my route.  Loads of times I've passed the man that tends to his goats and I've had interesting chats with him.  Interesting because I don't know much Greek and likewise his English is poor.  I think this lockdown is getting to me.

Hello Rod and everyone! Rod, I don't blame you for booking your flights. It's very hard to say where we will be in June, but I feel the problem is more likely to be in Corfu, vaccinations etc, than here. Our holiday was transferred from July last year, to this year. We will both , most likely, have had 2 jabs by then. However, we have both  become very nervous of going anywhere. Last Saturday I was taken to hospital with a suspected heart attack and it made me realise just how brilliant our nhs staff and hospitals are, that's what I worry about, being ill in another country...
Karen, I really do hope you are ok.  You are probably right regarding your fears and both the wife and I had lengthy discussions about our June holiday.  At the end of the day the worst that could happen (apart from having covid) is we cancel and arrange for another time.  I'm still optimistic but then again I always am.  The wife on the other hand is the opposite to me.

Thanks for the reply Jimbo.  I know everything is up in the air and quite frankly if it's not possible to fly due to covid then I will not lose out.  However I have also paid 50% cost of my accommodation already.  Mental I am, or optimistic.

Hello everyone, I hope all OK out there.
Now as the title implies I am throwing open a question to you all.  Am I mental (let me finish please), being foolish, or is it because I want to bloody look forward to something?  Oh the reason I ask those questions is because I have actually gone and booked my flights to Corfu!  Yes I've done it.  They are booked for the wife and I for the 10th June.
I do realise I am going to get different responses but that is exactly why I am asking you.  I want to know what you think and why.  I'll go first.  First of all I am hoping for some normality to resume by June (fingers crossed).  Secondly is for some reason I think once restrictions relax then there will be an almighty dash for flights to various destinations and therefore prices will go through the roof.  Most of all though is what I said earlier, I just want something to look forward to and dream of beautiful San Stefanos.  Over to you.   :)

My late dad and I were watching his favourite film Zulu sometime in the 1970s when my dad said that my great, great grandfather was at Rorkes Drift. I said really and my dad said, he wasn't fighting. He was camping in a field next door and he went over to complain about the noise.

Boom boom.
It was the first film I watched at my small local cinema.  I think I sneaked in actually.

Great report yesterday Rod really enjoyed it. When you are home can you report on Corfu airport, changes etc and if things are better now the upgrades are well on the way of  being finished..
The Corfu airport experience was surprisingly very good.  I say surprisingly because we had mixed reports from previous holiday makers.  A small few reported queuing for an hour and twenty minutes to get through passport control.  However we absolutely sailed through and there were more than enough seats as it is a little bigger now.  I do think though it would still be a crush during peak times.  The airport is very modern now and very clean and tidy.

Thanks Karen.  Next year eh?

Crikey Rod, did you weigh yourself when you left home.
I think I may have lost weight actually Charlie.  What with all our early morning treks and eating probably more healthy food than back home.  I haven't had any junk such as pizza/kebab and most of my meals I ask for rice or boiled potatoes as an accompaniment.  The hot weather has also dampened our appetites.  We have made up for it mind you with the cheap wine (hic).
