Information and help please / A couple of names
« on: February 25, 2013, 11:41:26 AM »
Hi all,

Can you help me with two peoples names I have forgotten.  Terrible memory and the thing is I got to know these people well.  The first one is the fellow who runs the poolside snack bar at Vickys Apartments and the second one looked after Princes' Bar at the Little Prince Hotel last year.

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone been to Goa?  I am doing my normal fortnight in June in San Stef but I was contemplating a couple of weeks in November to Goa.

The normal information please.  Which resorts are the best?  Dining/eating?  Weather etc;  Any information would be appreciated.

San Stefanos news and views / Yes, another update!
« on: June 28, 2012, 01:53:22 PM »
Hi Everyone.  The wife and I have been here in San Stef for six days now, so apologies for the delay in getting back to you lot.  I am currently using the computer in Gravia.  Stunning views as most of you know.  Anyhoo, I will give you all a brief update.

. Best sofrito EVER in the Olympia.
. Resort quiet but "ticking over".
. Food prices cheap, average of 35 euros for two, starter, main course and wine.
. Now three supermarkets on main street.
. Chinese restaurant has good reports although we have not tried it.
. Beach has loads of sunbeds, normally half of them actually being used.
. Weather hot but bearable due to the breeze.
. Lots of families from Finland in resort.  The kids just a little irritating.

Take care everyone.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Fresh fish
« on: April 14, 2012, 01:41:12 PM »

Hi everyone.  Although I have been to San Stef a few times now, I am thinking that the restaurants and tavernas are not all that great when it comes to serving fresh fish (not frozen).  I may be wrong.  Can any others out there recommend a good place for fresh fish?  I do recall Yiannis Grill advertising fresh fish but I'm not sure if the wife and I tried it.

Where to stay / I've cracked! Going back to San Stef
« on: April 18, 2011, 11:39:39 AM »
Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I last posted, but I require your advice.  The wife and I have made up our minds to return to San Stef in the beginning of September.  Without sounding boastful, I know all about the resort.  However we are in a dilemma of where to stay.  We think we have it down to two.  So, would you recommend the Little Prince or the Thomas Bay?  We have stayed in neither.  No pressure on you lot!

Out and About / Boat trip
« on: May 27, 2010, 09:19:42 PM »
Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me how long it would take to Paxos and Parga by boat.  Does the boat leave San Stef harbour or do you need to travel elsewhere?

Thanks.

Out and About / Walks
« on: April 27, 2010, 09:25:30 PM »
Hi all,

Can someone tell me how far and how much in time the following would be if I was walking.  I have been on the local walks info but I am still not sure if the distances are from San Stef or Arillas.  It's probably me!

From San Stef to Afionas (Dionysos taverna) and from San Stef to Ag Georgios.

Thanks.

San Stefanos news and views / Help

Hi everyone,

Can someone help me please.  I need the name of the lovely friendly owner and the postal address of "Two Stars".  What happened you see, was when my wife and I were in San Stef last year we got chatty with him and he gave us a bottle of "Two Star" red wine for us to take home.  Now the deal was that we would take a photograph of us both drinking the wine on Christmas Day and send him the photograph.  The first part wasn't a problem (drinking the cheeky red, that is) and indeed we took a lovely festive photo, but the address happened to be on the label of the bottle.  Yes, you're way ahead of me.  The bottle is presently being recycled and no doubt our "bottling" paths will cross again, unfortunately we forgot to write down the address.  Now we are returning to San Stef in June and I could give him the photo then, but a deals a deal.  Any help is much appreciated.

Where to stay / Thomas Cook (shocking)
« on: March 15, 2010, 06:00:21 PM »
Hi everybody,

It's been a while since I've been on, so I thought I would have a good old Victor Meldrew moan about Thomas Cook.  My wife and I booked way back in October, for 2 weeks, 18th June staying at the Mythos apartments.  Or so we thought!  I received a phone call today from the local Thomas Cook branch to inform me that "the hotelier is unable to honour your reservation".  So in their wisdom, without my blessing, they decided to book me into the Kokinos apartments in Arillas.

Well I visted the local office and told them in no uncertain terms that I thought their actions or lack of them was disgusting.  I asked all the relevant questions, why? how? etc; but they were totally indifferent to my dilemma and put the blame firmly with the owners of the Mythos apartments.  Now I stayed at these apartments last year and I recall other holiday makers having similar problems.  Why are Thomas Cook giving these people any business?  They honestly did not seem to be interested in resolving my problem and I ended up sitting going through various options available.  After this holiday I will not touch Thomas Cook again!

To conclude, I changed dates and my wife and I are staying for two weeks at the Vicky apartments starting 25th June.  Any feedback on these apartments would be helpful.

Hello everyone, just thought I would drop a line to tell you all how informative I feel this site is.  My wife and I stayed in San Stef in August(we have just set up our new computer or I would have dropped a line earlier).  We stayed at the Mythos apartments and I must say we hit lucky as these apartments are very good.  Keep it a secret though will you?  Oh dear too late.  Leading up to the holiday, I was never off the site and I must confess when we first explored around I felt like I knew the place like the back of my hand.  The information and especially the maps were really that good.
We did lots of walks, a couple of trips but most of all ate great food and drank a copious amount of wine (well we are from the north east after all).  We did have our favourite places but perhaps I will discuss them at some other time.  We have already booked again for next year, 18th June for two weeks staying at the same apartments.  We loved the place and the relaxing ambience, which speaks volumes as we have hoildayed in many parts of Greece.  Thanks for all the great information regarding San Stef.
