And many are enjoying the rubbish exchange rate.

"We're now hearing late 1919 at the earliest for an exit. That sounds suspiciously close to an election."

It's fairly close to the election which resulted in a coalition governmement led by David Lloyd George certainly.

Rilo, have you found "Dark Sister"by the Brussels Beer Project, or any of the beers by the Viven Brewery?

As far as the Ionian Brewery goes by favourite is probably the Contessa IPA. But why they don't add a really hoppy, West Coast style IPA is beyond me.

Thanks Amanda,
That's a shame, but the little bar is still worth the effort up the hill. It was always a little "different" there, which me and my lot always enjoyed. Pleasant little pool too.

Or, we could sit back, relax, reflect upon the good run for our money that we've had over the last few years, and try not to fret too much. A few years ago Sterling was weak against the Euro, but once in the village everything still seemed to be pretty good value.

Anyone know if Elpitha is opening this year? We didn't go last year, but I seem to remember someone saying it was open then.

I was using it the year before last, but I did always quite enjoy that challenge of squeezing through Avliotes. Albeit little more so in a hire car than my own. Sorry Dino if you are watching from above, (or below).

I can picture the Ouranos mob, but still can't picture Kostas. Is he a fisherman out of season? Where else did he work apart from Nafsica? Is he the guy who used to drive an Audi A3? Answers on a post card please.

Is that the same Kostas who worked at Nafsika years ago, and possibly did a stint at Manthos? The guy I'm thinking of also played beach football, and my mate Dimitri at Fedra Mare always described him as "The Fisherman".

If the weight of the structures at Delfino Blu and the Mango Bar extension were able to have an impact upon the beach, that impact would be even more dramatic, and obvious, around and on those structures. The displacement would also produce heave elsewhere, which again on this scale would be very difficult to miss.

Don’t ask me what has created the distortion to the beach, but my monies not on the downward pressure of buildings.

Yes it's well worth a visit, or even two visits.

It's worth going to. The first time I went it was very much a ghost town, but has a few Tavernas etc. now. I seem to recall the homemade ginger beer being a hit with me.

Rilo, your story doesn't surprise me, and we've been tested to the limit ourselves, but once the meals arrived, we couldn't help but forgive the place. (Mind you, we were probably that hungry by then that we'd probably have forgiven anyone, just for a crust). To try and help Dimitri with his meal planning we used to see him in the early afternoon, give him our party's order, and tell him what time we would arrive. It made no difference whatsoever. But, we always found the food, atmosphere, music, and host, to all be first-class, and interesting. It used to make for an enjoyable change from the other tried and tested options in the village, as long as you didn't have anywhere else to go, anytime soon.

Yes it's a crap name.

I like the idea though of someone providing some more interesting beers, above and beyond the Mythos, Amstel, etc. stuff. Where they'll get those from, and how they'll travel, I've no idea.

I tend to make a bee line for the Corfu beers, but still feel they're just a touch short of the mark, and they ought to brew a really hoppy style beer, perhaps that's coming. "Craft" beer, and pubs serving craft beer and gourmet burgers etc., is certainly a booming market in the UK, and "craft" beers have been added to the basket of goods used to measure the UK's inflation rate. So good luck to Beer o'clock, despite the awful name.
