This is the new name for the old Zest for Life JuiceBar.

For Newbies, it’s on the LHS as you head down to the beach just before the cross roads at San Stef travel.

The lady who runs this is from Avliotes and used to work in Sidari hotels. Her and her daughter are delightfully friendly.

We ate here during our rainy Tuesday lunchtime and were really pleased with how tasty her food was. In fact even topping it off with two beers before setting off on our walk to Magaloudes. We also used it for ‘beach baguettes’ one day and she made us our packed lunch for the journey home.

Give her a try this summer, it’s good see new local talent giving it a go.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Manthos Taverna.
« on: July 21, 2019, 01:12:44 AM »
We went to the Greek night on Thursday 18th July.

Two piece band and several dance sets including, three or four where the diners got involved. All good fun as usual. We loved it. Old Manthos was in attendance and seemed to be please with the size of the turnout. Those who who a Facebook friends of Billy Mouzkatis will have seen the photos posted today

Starter was pitta and tzatsiki with the main being mixed grill. We had two litres of wine and were mildly pissed  :)

Since it was our last night, we nipped into Beer O’Clock and had 4 brandies each before we tackled Nondas Hill just before 1am.

It’s a good night and was as good as the last one we went to in 2011.

Only another 7 days until we are there 😀

Well Chrissie D, if you only have 6 days to go then hopefully this little clip of the Beachcomber Sunset last night puts you right in the mood :)

We had another couple of bevvies in the Little Prince bar with Jimbo and Gillie last night. Great fun. For those still to come, the cocktail of choice in LP, is the WooWoo   :D

This is our last day, so we will go full tilt on the beach and then finish off with the Greek Night at Manthos, including the handsome Billy, ex Romanza and Zorbas.

It's tough ;)

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Mythos
« on: July 17, 2019, 08:01:51 PM »
We tried Mythos last night.

Mhairi had the special of Stifado with garlic bread. Feedback was excellent, although portions were massive.

I had t-bone steak special and baked feta in Greek tomato sauce. The fillet side of the tbone was superb, the sirloin side was a wee bit chewy, but I'd no problems finishing it. The main thing. it was tasty. It came with a mustard sauce on the side.

The baked feta was out of this world. It was terrific.

Speed of service was excellent. We sat down around 8.30 and were eating our starters about 8.45. Our mains came just after 9.

Our food was washed down with the 1 litre house red.

In summary, for a grand bill of €33, we would recommend it.

Yammas.

Out and About / Magaloudes and then Corfu Brewery
« on: July 17, 2019, 07:53:15 PM »
We took advantage of the cooler but dry afternoon yesterday to go walking.

Magaloudes, (apologies for spelling), can be reached by heading up by past the tennis courts, the Rose Garden apts and then when you get to the junction for heading to Avliotes and the football pitch take the opposite direction and follow a path up through the olive groves. It's a bit steep in parts, but door to door took about 90 minutes.

The village is small, but pretty with a torpedo! a bakery and a big church. The views inland across the valley to the east are spectacular.

From there, if you take the Arillas road, you can walk to Corfu Brewery in 25 minutes, mostly downhill  :D for a well earned pitstop.

After the brewery, you have another 20 minutes walk along the top of Arillas to Akrotiri Bar for a another refrrshment.... there is a theme here  :)

All told we walked for ~ 2.5 hours, a good way to spend a dull, cool afternoon.

Cheers

And then as if by magic, all is good with the world. Mother Nature has watered the village and turned on the heating  :)

The rain update  :)

For a wee flavour of what's happening right now, I hope you can view this link of Nonda's at this evening at 7.30pm. To be fair, it did clear up this afternoon, and hopefully this is the last of it. A sort of 15 minutes 'last hurrah' of the rain.

For 14 years we were regular visitors in July with our boys and I can only ever remember it raining one morning before clearing up.

We are the same. We visited 4 years on the spin 2008 to 2011. On our very first morning on 2008 it rained, and then I think we were good for all the rest, save for a couple of thunderstorms in the evenings.

In fairness, we've been here for a week now and apart from from last Wed afternoon which was dull, every day has been sunny and hot. Hopefully today becomes less wet (optimistic Scotsman!! lol !) and we will walk to Magouladon. The rest of the week is forecast to be superb.  :)

Per the excellent weather forecast, we have heavy rain this morning. It started in earnest around 6.45am.

If the BBC rolling map plays fair, we should have seen the worst by midday. For us that means until then, it's backgammon on the terrace with coffee and cake  :)

On the plus side, we did have a big full moon last night, which is always pretty to look at and pick out the brightest stars.

et's hope people keep posting little reviews
Safe travels Karen. Yes, we're here until Friday and will keep posting  8)

This morning we took advantage of the patchy cloud and walked the 6k route past the tennis court and the football pitch. We then headed back down the hill to the village, stopping off at Olgas for lunch and a little reunion with Aristoula.

This afternoon was beautifully hot so we logged up some sunbed hours ahead of the forecast tomorrow :( It looks like rain, so we plan to walk to Loggas Bay, it should be cool enough for that.

Ps on the way home tonight, we think we saw the lesser spotted Jimbo eating a late supper in LP . But rather than intrude we slipped by, and let them recharge after their travels. Hopefully, having swapped messages we'll have a date night soon :)

Yammas.

Beautiful and breezy today. Spent some time at the little church this morning. Always good to pause and reflect.

Lazed away the afternoon poolside at Nonda's flicking between the cricket and the tennis...... with a Royal Ionian Pilsner on one side whilst Mrs Lofty reads away on the other side.

Hope Buttler and Stokes get the job done.

And the added bonus of full '3 bar' WiFi from '180 degrees' down at the water's edge, lol!. Totally modern  :D

Remembering it's 8 years since we were last here, we really believe that the beach is transformed.

It was always a highlight of the village, but it is much wider and tidier now. Also with 4 rows of upgraded loungers with deep beds including bottles of water, it really is excellent, and dare I say it, more modern. The 180 beach bar is also a terrific addition.

Bravo to all those behind the improvements, what a difference its made. It is lovely.
