Ever since we have been going there from when Thompson's first got their noses into S S, they have used their financial bullying tactics!
Some years they left Apartments empty, and sent holidaymakers elsewhere, to the detriment of the village in general.
They even made it difficult to book!
But the big problem in a recession is that more people will default to the smaller private owners in S S!
This makes the vulnerable owners who need guaranteed cash-flow to survive, sitting ducks for Thompson's, and who can blame them for that!!
Overall - it will cost us all a bit more each year, especially as S S is now more popular, with return visitors -
Thompson's must love it!!

well you have played into their hands somewhat, they can easyily manipulate the situation because so many are returnees

Hi Merlin and welcome to the lovely SS San Stef. If you want to read an objective and rational review you can read mine on Holidays Uncovered following my visit this year, two nice resorts indeed, however I dont think I'm wrong in saying that the good and well meaning folk that post here arent er a little one eyed? but full of very good information when being informative...the puns are crap tho ;D

Though Skala on Thassos edges them and Polis, Cyprus beats them all ....imho...now if I did go back anywhere it would be there,in a holiday home for Nov to March, personally I'd be quite happy to move to Cyprus when I'm older but she who must be obeyed would prefer an apartment in Pembs where we could "Bring it all back Home"..[ our ancestors came from the Cleddau ]I must say that after spending some time there recently in this glorious September sunshine I'm almost tempted to agree, Narberth is a nice village near fantastic beaches, with very good local cuisine and restaurants.

Chris - not stayed at the Fedra before - hope it's OK. I don't know Don, other than thru' here. I do buy a round....honest!!

Zimmer - 11 days because Ejet from BTL gives us the option of a Monday to Friday stay...and yes you're correct...another 11 days later...in September, in another one of your favourite places.....Carvoeiro on The Algarve! That's our regular haunt of the last 8 years.

Jules - i'm afraid Portland priced us out of a return visit to Terezas! It's far too expensive now and as much as we loved it this year in June it's not worth £1100 for 2 weeks for the two of us!

Yeah I'd put Carvoeiro on a par with SS as far as my hols go, nice enough I enjoyed there too, but where we stayed, Colina, was, while very nice, up some pretty tough hills, ok walking down to town but we needed a taxi each night to get back, at laest it has a recognisable local feel ,that I think is the big difference and far more variety in the shops, some nice restaurants ...thinking of trying Alvor at some point that looks nice too...but, as the great man once said, "Dont look Back" Ive never been anywhere twice - except when I was a kid with the folks, and that was in the days before foreign hols, so I shant be changing that personal rule in the future

Thou shallt not hold any other resort above SS
Do not bear false witness at any time
Thou must covet thy neighbours arse but do it discretely
Thou must not steal thy neighbours beach hed
Thou must not urinate in the sea, become lewd or drunken
Thou must attempt to visit SS at least twice each year
thou must recite the holy anthem once a day before sunset

Those seeking enlightenment under the mentoring of a Grand Mattress must first undertake certain trials, these trials are not only sacred they are secret, however one who has witnessed some of them reports that cucumbers, vaseline, sunglasses, hidden camera's and pointy sticks are involved, and to reveal them is to incur the wrath  of the High Mattresses, you will be buried in the Golden Sand up to your neck at high tide

The Holy Anthem
nb - Novices should recite this on their balcony at 8pm before the Taverna Ritual begins
Tomorrow - and at great danger to my life I reveal the Holy Anthem and the 7 rituals of St Georgios
