Well, now tried both the bottled and draught versions(Bar 38 has the draught) and enjoyed it although I think Mythos just edges it. Need to do more research  ;D. Brewery is apparently starting tours. Will investigate and let you all know.

Hi All

We arrived at San Stef on Friday afternoon having left a very wet and windy Glasgow Airport. Stepped off the plane to bright sunshine and 23 degrees. Been the same since and eight day forecast also fine.

Little Prince as good as ever and food prices very reasonable. Had the sizzling steak last night, fantastic and only 7 Euros. Beer around 2.50 for a pint. Hiring a car for a few days at 25 Euros a day this early in the season. Place is still quite quiet with a few restaurants still to open. Ozzy Oils was still being prepared yesterday but I think we'll definitely give it a go when it opens.

Must say we had a great welcome from all at the Little Prince who had remembered us from two years ago. Also from the Silver Star across the road. Says something about us I guess.

Anyone must go, busy doing not a lot :D

Although my favourite lager is Mythos, I have heard about the new brewery in Arillas and am keen to sample the product, simply for research purposes of course! Can anyone tell me wheree it's on sale in San Stef and is it bottle only or draught as well?

Cheers in advance, Gordon

Did the Albania trip(the one from San Stefanos travel with visit to Butrint) two years ago and found it fascinating. It was a long day though!

Avatar from Zakynthos last year, The Buca bar on the beach at Alikes. Alikes is a small quiet and friendly resort, just like San Stef. Cheers!

Out and About / Re: Driving
« on: April 16, 2009, 04:50:32 PM »
Hired a car when over two years ago and found the driving fine. A lot of the roads can be challenging, i.e steep with lots of hairpins but once you get used it you'll be fine. As Tonyco1 says be prepared for a bit of reversing when you encounter buses and trucks as they are bigger than you.

Found Corfu Town ok to drive in but coming from the nightmare city of Edinburgh(in driving terms)  >:( anything should be easy! There's quite a bit of parking up by the Old Fortress, close to the Liston and offering easy access to the narrow streets of the old town. Quite easy to find too.

Get a good map as road signage can be haphazard, particularly if driving away from San Stef. Coming out of Corfu signs were much more obvious. Also watch out for the road suddenly deteriorating with no warning and there are a lot of large potholes(just like Edinburgh too). Generally you are not covered for any tyre or underside damage. You're also likely to encounter donkeys and other animals in the middle of the road in the hill villages. And yes, watch out for speed traps.

Driving on the island is on the whole a great experience and is undoubtedly the best way to see and enjoy the spectacular views. Enjoy!  :)

When we were in San Stef two years ago, there was a taxi operator in Arillas as we took one back on a hot Sunday afternoon having walked over. Walking by road is hilly coming out of Arillas and will take around 25 minutes, not too sure if I'd fancy walking back in the dark!

It will be the Little Prince for us but reading all the reviews must try the Olive Press this year and I like the sound of Ozzy Oils too.

Thanks for all your responses guys. We're now really looking forward to our hols and I will hire a car again as I want to have a quick look at the south of the island and spend a little more time in the hill villages. I think a couple of trips to Corfu Town will be in order too.

Never mind all that though. I can taste the Mythos already!!

Hi All

New to the forum and looking forward to returning to San Stef in May for our second visit. Our first trip was in June 2007, staying at the Little Prince and we fell in love with the village and indeed Corfu itself.

We had a memorable holiday and everyone we met in the village was very friendly and we were made very welcome at the Little Prince. Used San Stefanos Travel for a few excursions and rented a car for a few days from the car hire place in the main street, name forgotten, sign of old age perhaps!

Anyway, really looking forward to our hols but wondering what to expect temperaturewise in May, we arrive on the 8th. Also what changes in the village since were last there?
