Where to stay / Re: Little Prince?
« on: January 10, 2014, 01:00:33 AM »
Thanks Jim
Thought it was worth asking on the forum as he just said to let him know which they would prefer two weeks in advance. We didn't know whether road/sea or pool would be best or if it really made much of a difference. Guess it might come down to their preference.
Thanks again
Helen

A belated happy new year people!
Dimitri has replied to an email I sent re room allocation for August. He says to email him two weeks prior to arrival to request the type of views we would like.....he will then try and make sure we have the type we request (though obviously I realise this is dependent on other guests arrivals and departures).
My question to all you Little Prince fans is......would you ask for a sea/road view room or go for a pool view and why?
The girls will have two studios, so are any better than others and are there any to be avoided?
Most of the reviews are really good but would like to avoid any obvious banana skins.
Thanks in advance!

My new year's resolution was to live more in the moment and not to wish the days away! Inevitably thoughts have turned to the summer of 2014 however and I seem to have failed already!

I didn't get the email saying they were up for grabs until lunchtime. The law of s*d dictated that today was the first day I didn't check earlier in the day.
Therefore I am pretty damned sure that we didn't get the cheapest flights we could have...particularly on the return leg, however I am consoling myself with the thought that we have still saved a great deal compared to our other options, money which can now be spent in the village I guess or at least pay for the independent accommodation we have booked.
Definitely worth it, even with an overnight hotel on the way back.

Kernock.....we'll just be starting as you're finishing! We go August 8-29, also from Bristol.
Times are rubbish compared to Exeter, but the difference in price makes it a no brainer!

More expensive than I had hoped for but saved £hundreds (almost £700!) over Thomson!
Can relax and pay Noula what we owe her now we are booked!
Phew!!!!!

The bog standard two week flight only "deal" from Exeter 8-22 August are now £708.98!
We will be flying from anywhere but Exeter with a n other.

Believe me, I would love to be able to access "a package", but unfortunately I can't due to the lack of adapted accommodation. That, together with school holidays means we are forever destined to pay top euro! Just hoping Easyjet will save us enough to make the extra hassle worth it.

During our first week when we were there in August we paid for the beds outside Waves and were given a €2 discount ticket which we used to buy ice creams. (Tricky for is to get into restaurant from beach because of disabled access) so we sorted ourselves re lunch.
At the start of the second week the beds became free and the girl who had previously sold the tickets, now became a waitress and offered to fetch drinks etc from Waves.
To be honest it made my life so much pleasanter not having to be the one to always get drinks etc that we found we spent more money in the restaurant than we had done the week before.
Result all round!...we were more than happy to pay (and tip) for the service!
Hope it's the same next year!

We've spoken directly to Thomson's "repackage team" and to quote "there are loads" on both legs.
We could go 8-22 and 15-29 or indeed 22-29 as those dates fit within the general 1/2 week package. What we cannot do is book 2 x single flights or 1 x 3 week flight ( unless we pay £1500) which I think is a bit steep.
If we have to, we will, but going to look at Easyjet first.....much more hassle, but hopefully cheaper.

Thank you for your help.....we have booked two studios for the girls and I'm sure they'll be fine. We just need to get our own flights sorted so we can go for the three weeks we have booked by the beach.

Hi,
Yep, we tried that too and funnily enough Thomson are very sorry, but they "do not operate flights to Corfu from Exeter on that date"
Mmmmm I think you are telling porkies because quite obviously you do!
They then kindly quoted outward leg of £900+ From Gatwick. We didn't bother to put in the return leg!

We are fortunate to be going back next year and have also booked two of our daughters and their partners into the Little Prince for two weeks in August.
I then tried to book flights from Exeter to coordinate our travel plans, flights which had risen sharply in price from £518 to £648.98 per person (basic flight, no bags etc)....(we are staying at Margarita's as one of the suites has disabled access and shower).
Richard and I then decided that after a fortnight all together with a 2yr old we might need a third week to recover!
Phoned Thomson as we were unable to book a three week return flight online and were told the price for the two of us from Exeter to Corfu from 8-29/8 would be.......£1571, basic return flight no bags!
Seriously?
Could anyone give an idea of when sleazy jet flights for August are likely to go live?..no way are we going to pay that Mr Thomson!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Jimbo, appreciate the speedy reply!
We have the Blu Rose suite at Margarita's booked for us again, but weren't quick enough to secure other suites with Noula for two of our daughters who have decided they would like to come with us.
We have checked flight only options with Thomsons and initially planned to book other independent options, but prices are just ridiculous from little old Exeter and therefore we are having to look at packages.
The only option showing on the Thomson website is 2x studios so thought I'd check here rather than believe what Thomson might say!
Thanks again
Helen
