Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Vegetarian food
« on: June 18, 2010, 05:00:21 PM »
Can anyone recommend Greek Vegetarian dishes. I do enjoy salad but it is always nice to have a change. I remember at the Athina 2008 one of the vegetarian options was squid, I did explain that true vegetarians do not eat fish/seafood and I must admit they were very helpful after that in providing me with some lovely meals.
Any suggestions for starters and mains will be welcome.

San Stefanos news and views / Your first visit to corfu
« on: June 16, 2010, 07:24:10 PM »
I was thinking about our first visit to Corfu in 2003[not the best experience] due to the hotel and yet we were drawn back again to Corfu. It was one of those last minute allocated on arrival[something we had never done before]. The hotels were Thomas Bay, a Thomson Gold in AG South or Yalliskari palace[now Ambience palace] in Pelakas. We just knew that we would end up at the Yalliskari and in the middle of nowhere. Watered down drinks and dismal staff. We forgot to pay for our water at the evening meal one night and the manager actually ran after us shouting and we were made to feel like thieves, he could have just asked us at breakfast the next day for the money. The beach was nice though but the whole resort[if you can call it that] consisted of the hotel, 2 shops and 2 bars. Still it did'nt put us off and we returned to Corfu in 2006 staying at AG North at Costas Golden beach[happy memories of this hotel],2008 we discovered SS and are returning to SS this year. Corfu is indeed a magical place and SS is in my opinion is the best resort. Friendly locals, beautiful beach and so many good restaurants. Pure relaxation.

San Stefanos news and views / Booking seats on plane
« on: June 10, 2010, 03:49:25 PM »
I have just booked our seats together and was able to actually chose our seat numbers included in the price[Thomsons]. Must be a new thing because when we flew out in 2008 I was never given that option. I wanted to make sure we got a window seat because once even though we got to the airport early all the window seats were gone and we were seperated by the aisle, me next to someone who coughed all the way there and hubby next to a baby on mums knee who cried for the whole journey[poor little thing].
Does anyone else book their seats or just take pot luck?

Information and help please / Tipping
« on: June 09, 2010, 12:16:39 AM »
We always give tips on holiday but sometimes I wonder what other people consider reasonable. E.G you enjoy a meal for 25 euro's, what would be considered the right amount to tip?
Also do you always tip when you just visit a bar just for drinks?
Hubby thinks that I tip too much.

Hi everyone,
We are thinking of walking to Avilotes from SS during our stay, does anyone know how many miles it is?
We never got around to doing the walk in 2008.
Many thanks.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Beechcomber/waves
« on: May 27, 2010, 06:38:46 PM »
Hi, can anyone tell me where beachcombers restaurant is, my husband thinks it is the same restaurant known as waves but I thought from seeing photos that the Beachcomber had an elevated terrace to watch the sunsets from. We had lunch at waves last time we were in SS and we entered waves from the beach.
Thanks in advance.

Where to stay / tsaros apartments
« on: May 23, 2010, 05:06:21 PM »
Hi all,
Long time no see if anyone remembers me from 2008 when I last posted on the forum.
Did'nt get to go to SS last year or anywhere else for that matter, problem after problem but that is life I suppose.
Anyway, thinking of booking Tsaros and I realise it is up an hill[hopefully will survive it] but can anyone tell me if the rooms have safes, or maybe they are at reception? I hope so, don't fancy carrying our money around around all day.
Thanks in advance.
