Where to stay / Re: Rose Gardens
« on: September 10, 2019, 11:03:28 AM »
Tuesday morning and it's lovely. Didn't get to the beach yesterday as we had a typical Corfiot storm for about an hour then some clouds until the sun made an appearance early afternoon. Still lovely and warm.

Ate at Olympia last night and it was beautiful. My wife had the Seabass and I the Sofrito. It was also very busy as was Little Prince, Brusko and Tasty Corner. Stopped at the 3W on the way home and had a few (there's a theme developing here I'm afraid).
Pool day today and the beach tomorrow as its supposed to be 35 degrees. Hot hot hot.

Its Sunday evening about 6.30 after another glorious day. Yesterday was lovely with a meal at Zorba's and a few drinks at Bar 38 with live music. Left there around 12.30 slightly the worse for wear I'm afraid. Princess Bar was standing room only on Friday and there were a fair few in Bar 38 as well. The Condor seemed quiet as did most of the other bars on the"strip". Beachcomber tonight or the Olympia if they're fully booked.
Weather permitting we're off to the beach tomorrow.

I have a smartphone for emergency purposes and to keep in contact with my sons but have no interest in any social media of any kind.

Maybe its my age but I have no interest in sharing my eating, drinking habits with total strangers

I started this particular topic so I'm delighted with the response and I agree with Jimbo that its been a very good "debate".

People do what they want to do, there's no right or wrong just different approaches, circumstances etc etc.

I also believe very strongly that "debate" keeps this forum alive. There are often opinions voiced that I don't agree with but thats no different to discussions I have in the pub/work or within my own family. I put my point of view, consider others, respond and so on. Sometimes I reconsider my view and sometimes I become more entrenched that's just the way it is. Wouldn't life be boring if we were all the same.

I love it on here so thanks to all fellow forum users who take time out to contribute.

All that's good to know folks, thanks. Will book taxi via either Noula or Mycorfudriver website. We're on holiday so the money doesn't worry me.

We've booked a package holiday with TUI for 6th Sept at the Rose Gardens however we don't fancy the coach ride from the airport because of the timing and previous experience. We intend to book a taxi. Obviously I'll tell the TUI reps we won't be needing the coach but can I anticipate problems with them as a result? It should be straight-forward but you never know.

By 7:30 this morning there were lots of towels on the sunbeds beside the Little Prince pool. Why???????

Throw them in the pool Jimbo and when they ask why just tell them you're old.

Is it me or has the weather been less than glorious so far this summer........in San Stef that is. For 14 years we were regular visitors in July with our boys and I can only ever remember it raining one morning before clearing up. We used to hear of heavy overnight rain and flooding in Sidari but I don't recall seeing any in San Stef.

Am I looking at things through rose tinted glasses perhaps.

So another beautiful day today, not so hot with a gentle breeze. Perfect. Quiet again in the village last night. 2stars restaurant, maybe half a dozen tables taken, little prince, half full. Mythos probably was the busiest and also Nafsika where we ate and quite busy in Manthos. Bar 38 had live music, not my taste but quite a few in there. Went to Condor about 12.30 and there were more staff than customers ;D

Karen is your overall view that things are far quieter this year or is it the usual pre-school lull?

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Manthos Taverna.

Again mixed reviews for the restyled Manthos, food still quite good but slow service.

Most of the time while in San Stef I can live with slow service but at Manthos with that sun setting it can still be very hot. Have to see what others say about it before our Sept visit.

Yeah, there were a few of them kicking about that location when I was over last September.

Sorry folks but cats and I don't get on.
