Will look through my 1,000's of photos I have taken for the website and see what I can find.

Its good to see that the forum has returned to normal and is a pleasure to read through once again.

I have put the idea of a chat area on hold ftb as I am not sure that its necessary at the moment.

Thanks to you all

Happy Holidays

Good advice from you both and even though I agree that the risk is low I would urge everyone to hide their personal email address on registration or use a hotmail address and NEVER include a personal email address within a post where the risk of them being harvested by spammers is a great deal higher. Believe me when I first started this website in 2001 I included a contact email on the webpage and you would not believe how much crap I received within a very short period of time.

If you wish to contact another member use the Personal Message option as your email address will remain hidden.

Also take note of the good piece of advice from the "Holiday Truths" site

I have made the decision to delete all of the posts under this thread as some were proving to be controversial and causing bad feeling amongst our members. This is not an atmosphere that I wish to continue and judging by some of your comments neither do you. This decision has not been taken lightly as you know I believe that everyone is entitled to their own right of opinion without which, would defeat the purpose of having a forum in the first place. Thank you to those who posted constructive comments, valuable suggestions and encouragement, I am sorry to delete your posts but I don't wish to be seen to be picking on certain members.

The way forward based on the results of the online poll to which 32 of you contributed is:

1) The forum will remain unchanged
2) Unnecessary use of the "quote" option is banned that's not to say that you can't use it, just think whether its necessary first
3) A separate chat area will be set-up but this will only be accessible to a certain group of members based on number of posts or time registered, still to be decided.
4) I will review the situation again at the end of the holiday season and decide then whether I wish to continue to support a forum on www.sanstefanos.co.uk

In the meantime please continue to support this forum with the wealth of information, the friendly banter we now have and will continue to have along with the new friends made are very valuable to us all, lets keep it that way.

Best Wishes

Cannedfool, thanks for your constructive comments certainly food for thought. A general chat area has received a high vote in the recent poll so maybe that's the way forward, as you say I can restrict it to members with so many posts etc

I have seen v2 used on many sites in production so maybe this is the way forward I will have a look into how I upgrade and link it to my current mySQL database in the oming weeks.

Can you post or PM a link to your sites so I can have a look?

Hi all

I think that Corfuaddicts summed up exactly what I was thinking very well:

I enjoy all the posts as well but their is no need for members to jump on someone just because they have a differant view to themselves. Personally, I enjoyed these original reviews as it gave an honest opinion, not just through the rose tinted glasses of someone who treats SanStef as their second home.

This wouldn't be a forum without positive and negative posts and long may they continue, just watch your language and your responses as everyone is entitled to their own opinion otherwise we would all holiday in the same place and how crowded that place would be, we would all eat Mc Donalds, read the Daily Mail and wear yellow T shirts! lol

Patandgra, I couldn't agree more and members should not lose site of the fact that this is a "holiday" website and forum for exchanging information about SanStefanos.

Topic closed for new posts, lets all move on....................

Forum Rules / Addition to existing forum rules
« on: July 16, 2009, 04:45:17 PM »
In order to avoid moderating every post on this forum a new rule has been added which I urge you all to read and to remind yourselves of the existing forum rules that you agreed to abide by why you registered to participate in this forum.

All members are entitled to their own view and opinion on the San Stefanos forum however, members must not respond to any post in a slanderous or rude manner. In order to preserve the very nature of a forum members may continue to respond to posts with constructive comments and to express their own particular viewpoint, which must be respected by all.

Any member who fails to obey this and/or existing forum rules will be banned without notice or appeal and all previous posts will be deleted.

Any compliants on the content of posts must be reported to admin and their decision is final.

I am sorry for having to introduce this new rule and act like big brother but some of you have brought it upon yourselves, the other option was to lock the forum to all new posts and leave it for referance only. Now lets all take a step back and return to the happy nature of the forum and dream of chilling out by the pool, going for a walk or building a sandcastle.

I am sad to see someone else with a valuable contribution to make after their holiday feel this way. If we all liked the same thing this world would be a very boring place!

Remember that this is a holiday forum, where everyone's and I mean everyone's opinion counts.
