After some beautiful sunny days, March the 1st is rather overcast, making it quite breezy on the beach, with some quite choppy waves.

After the great day the was Clean Monday, with Avliotes carnival, all is back to normal. It was a fab afternoon, and there were some brilliant floats and costumes! It was quite funny seeing our friends all dressed up, a couple of which I hardly recognised until they spoke!! Also, lovely to see the younger generation of the village participating proudly in their majorette troupe, they were fantastic.

Down in San Stef today preparations are beginning for the new season. More stonework going on at Olympia, which is looking lovely, and some after winter work being done at Mare Deus,

Much work happening at Elizabeths, as their last premises in their row of shops (which used to be rented by Corfu Explore) is undergoing some work......the frontage has been brought out in line with the others, and is going to be in use this year, which is nice. Will be interesting to see what they will be selling.

Hi Sellsy,

Yes, you're right, as we are now next to Beachcombers we have patio frontage roadside, with a lovely big balcony beachside. No direct access off the beach, but we're just up the pathway next to Waves, so very easy to find.

Work on the shop is progressing nicely.....we've painted right through, created a couple of back room work spaces, and are fitting new lighting, as well as making plans for the layout. However I do occasionally get sidetracked by our gorgeous view....Mr Hippopots says whenever he's popped out to the van to get some tools, when he comes back in I always seem to be out on the balcony! ;D

Well, it has been a lovely day today, we headed down to San Stef to do some prep work at our new shop, and of course enjoy a nice long walk along the beach, which is currently very wide!

All is quite quiet at the moment, although there are a few bits of work going on.

The wall behind Olympia is getting some lovely new stone, to match the restaurant wall. And lots of work going on at Marina Villa, which is having a major facelift ready for this year.

Other than that, pretty quiet, although we are lucky enough to have Express Market open for groceries, Town Pizza at weekends to keep us fed, and El Greco and 3W'S open to keep us watered! :D

Well, we now have the keys, and are strating work preparing our new shopfor 2017 season.

I can reveal that we have moved round to the 'old' side of the village, you can find us just along the road to the port, opposite Beer O Clock, and next to Beachcombers.

You can also get to us easily by taking the scenic route along the brach, then walk up the path to the side of Waves.

Hope to see you all!!

Happy 2017!!
After a trip back to the UK, we arrived back home to Corfu on Friday morning.

We missed the snow that fell here, now it is warmer on average than UK, but a wet afternoon today.

We went to San Stef this afternoon for a walk on the beach, and got caught in the downpour, so had to run back along the road from the Church to the car, which was parked opposite Little Prince, taking shelter along the way under the canopies of Kamini, and the Juice Bar!

The rain didn't deter the horse riders though, who were enjoying the opportunity to gallop the length of the beach during the Winter season.

All the businesses will be open, and up and running.
Weatherwise it can be a little variable, but usually nice sunny days, with slightly cooler evenings. It's a lovely time to come!

Anyone who doesn't use facebook, you'll not have seen our news!

After 4 years in our shop, we are having a change of scene for 2017, and are moving to a different location in San Stef.

We've really enjoyed our time in our premises, and have lovely business neighbours.  But we now feel the time is right to have a change of scene, and move to a different place.

We are away for about a month, after which work will begin in earnest to be ready for the start of the season.....new location will be revealed next year. Merry Christmas!

Well, not long til Christmas, but with the weather we've been having it's hard to believe it's mid December! The sun has been shining daily for at least 2 weeks now, and daytime temperatures are well into the teens!

The beach is lovely, quite wide, with plenty of room for the doggies that enjoy it in Winter to have a good run around together  :)

All is quiet in the resort itself, although Express supermarket is doing a nice steady trade, and El Greco is open for business by lunctimes. And from 4pm we aso have 3W'S, which is looking nice and festive with their lit up snowman and Santa by the door!

We are heading back to the UK soon for about 1 month, so would like to wish you all HAPPY CHRISTMAS, and best wishes for 2017!  :D

Well, all is quiet in San Stefanos now, as you'd expect. However, we have been enjoying some amazing November sunshine! Last few days have been warm and sunny, giving us the chance to go for some nice walks along the beach. The other day the beach was beautiful and wide, and the sea just gently lapping at the shore. Just a couple of dog walkers enjoying the empty beach, as well as 3 Mum's with little ones having a good run around, letting of steam!

Just a few places open now....Town Pizza is open at the weekends, and El Greco and 3 W's open every afternoon and evening, as well as Express supermarket every day except Sunday, which is pretty handy for popping into for groceries.

Well, after closing the shop, we had a lovely few days break in Stoupa, on the mainland. Not been there for 20 years, and pleased to say it hadn't changed dramatically! We were also lucky weatherwise, having left about 2 hours before the epic rains that fell here, flooding the main street outside Thomas Bay, and seeping into Brusko and Zorba's, like it did in June.
Fortunately all is well again, and the only evidence of it we could see when we went into San Stefanos a couple of days ago was a fair few stones still in the road, and the movement of the wooden bridge on the beach.

So, when we were there, resort now very quiet, although Yiannis Gyros and Tasty Corner still open, along with 3 W's bar, Town Pizza, El Greco, and Zest for Life, as well as Nafsika, that has guests. Also, Perdita and Taste of Life still open on shortened hours for shopping, as well as Margaritas supermarket, and Express supermarket, and Spiros Bikes still there if a scooter or quad is required.

This place does take on an eerily quiet feel at this time of year, as it feels strange, when 2 weeks ago everyone was open, but in a week or so, this will feel perfectly normal to those of us here!

Awww, Dupnica, so glad she liked it, and it was the right colours! :)

I did start writing an update the other day, but I had just spilt water over the computer, and the keyboard went a little haywire!! :o

But after a couple of days of drying out, we're back in business.

So after some fab Octtober weather, yesterday we were treated to a torrential downpour, which was not so great....but back to sun again today.

After yesterday's departures the resort is slowly closing down, Little Prince, Barras and Silver Moon have all closed their doors for this season.
Restaurant wise, Yianni's served his final orange cake, and Ozzy Oil closed too.

But we still have Beachcombers and Beer O Clock until tomorrow, and 2 Stars, Condor and Town Pizza are still open, as is Yianni's gyros and Tasty Corner, and you can still have a drink at Athens Bar, Aquarius Bar, Acabar, 3 W's El Greco, and Silver Star. Not walked around the village today, but usually Summer Dreams, and Zest for Life also stay open until near the end.

And of course it's still possible to hire a car, or get a quad or scooter from either Pegasus or Spiros Bikes, and head off exploring, so we're not completely closed yet!

So Sunday night gave us an amazing light shop, courtesy of a big thunderstorm. It began around 8.30pm ish with a huge thunderclap, which made everyone jump out their skin! This was followed by some rain, but not that much, and hours of rumblings, but the most incredible lightening, that lit up the sky in almost mauve colours.....a Corfiot thunderstorm never fails to impress!

It cleared the air nicely, and yesterday was pretty hot, and the evening was one of the warmest we've experienced for a while.

The village is relatively quiet now, although on the patio areas of the bars are people making the most of the October sunshine.

Some of the sunbeds have gone now from the beach, as things quieten down, and whilst it's a little breezy down there today, it's still definitely sunbathing weather  8)

Don't worry, Chris No 2......Bod loves a bit of cat chasing, but only from the end of his lead! And on the odd occasion he has escaped to go after one, he either doesn't catch up with it, or it turns on him and gives him what for, he has the scar on his nose to prove it!!

So, things are, as Abbo says, gradually winding down. Little Prince bar closed after Friday night, after having a busy Summer with Yiannis in charge.

Barras are advertising their roast beef dinner tonight as the last one for this year, and overall the evenings are pretty quiet. That said, still quite a few enjoying the lovely beach today, as the weather is still beautiful  8)

How lovely to see a wedding in Kassiopi Jimbo, and on such a beautifully sunny day too.

A fab clear blue sky today, and comfortable temperatures in the high 70's/low 80's made for a great chance for people to soak up some sunshine before heading back to UK for Autumn.

As abbo says, there will be a fair few people heading home tomorrow, but hopefully we'll get a few more visitors yet.

Evenings are a little cooler now, so people sitting more inside the tavernas and bars.

Last quiz night of the season (possibly!) at 3W'S tonight.....seems to have been a popular addition to what's on offer in the resort during the Summer, so may well be returning again next year.

Oooop, SORRY SORRY SORRY!!!

I kind of got out of the habit of posting, and whoops, before we know it it's nearly the end of September!!  :o

Apologies, for not updating, but I must say it's nice to be missed!

I have had a little slap on the wrist in person a couple of times this week too, so time to pull my finger out!!

So, news is we're nearing the end of the season, just a couple more weeks to go for most of us.

Work has been progressing down at the bridge, where high concrete walls have been constructed either side of the stream, to prevent erosion of the banks getting too close to Acabar, and Eleni's supermarket!

The beach is still pretty busy, and the sea is still beautiful and warm. Lots of hire cars can still be seen parked up by the stream daily.

The evenings are cooling off a little now, time for us to need a change of clothes for the evenings....I'll soon be digging out Winter fleeces and jeans!!  :'(
But Bod loves the cooler weather, and he now has much more energy to bark at and chase cats, and anything else that moves!!

But the daytime weather is superb, lots of sunshine and gorgeous temperatures well into the 70's, such a lovely time to be here, especially if you prefer your tavernas a little quieter, and your hosts to have more time to chat.

So, now back into 'the zone' of writing, I'll keep you all up to date on the resort.....promise!!  :)
