All fairly quiet in San Stef today, on this Easter weekend.

San Stefanos supermarket was open, and busy stocking up their shelves with new product lines for the summer. They have, as Lesley has mentioned, been open all winter, which has been very handy. They are closed for the next 2 days, and very much looking forward to it.

Planting was also taking place in new flower borders at Paralia apartments.

Saw some preparations taking place for tomorrow....the charcoal grill was being brought out from the rear of Athens bar, and the lamb on the spit was being prepped next to Town Pizza (apologies to any vegetarians), but I reckon there will be a gorgeous aroma of lamb slowly cooking tomorrow!

Another overcast day today, must be because it's bank holiday time!

All quite quiet in the village today, although there was some painting of doors and windows going on at Silver Moon.

There are a few visitors travelling around, I think they're probably visiting for Easter. We met a very nice Italian couple on the beach this afternoon, walking their dogs, who had come over for the festivities.

The famous 'pot smashing' happens in Corfu Town tomorrow....take a look on Google, it's a huge event!
We're not going , but will be going to the Midnight service in Afionas, which is candlelit, followed by fireworks & dynamite (!) at Midnight. We went last year, and it was a great experience.

Everyone's different on how much they spend.
There is a lot of choice in San Stef, to suit all budgets.
Breakfast has already been mentioned.
There are 4 supermarkets and a bakery, to pick up provisions if necessary.
Sandwiches and toasties are available in quite a few of the bars at lunchtime for about 2 -4 euros.
There are 2 gyros grills, where you can get gyros or souvlaki for just a couple of euros.
A lot of the tavernas do set menus for 7 -10 euros a head, with a couple of others charging slightly more, but nowhere is (in my opinion ) really expensive.
Just don't buy donuts off the 'donut man' on the beach!! Unhygenic, and known to try and rip people off!

Well, today started a little cloudy, turned into rain, then by 4pm we had lovely sunshine once again!

Bits of cleaning going on today.
There was some pressure washing happening at Yiannis Grill Room, and a hosing down of the patio at Silver Star.

And there was also some work going on at Waves Taverna, where they were re-doing the roof of the beachside outside seating area.

Other than that all was quite quiet....I think everyone is getting ready for the Easter festivities!

An overcast, and (almost) chilly day today, hopefully it won't last too long though!

Wasn't down in the village today, but did hear a rumour last night that there may be a new tenant in the old Chinese this year.
I don't know how definate this is, as it was a bit 'I heard it through the Grapevine', but someone has painted the outside paintwork, changing it from red to white.
Watch this space all, I'll keep you posted.

Also, I'm very interested to hear the great reviews of the curries at Perros.....now I know where to go to get my curry fix this summer!

Evening all,

A slightly cooler day today, with a little bit of a breeze.

Thunder, lightening and rain have just started, and apparently there is going to be bad weather tomorrow.
The good thing is, if there is, it never lasts long here!
I personally don't know about any changes at Manthos.....all looks the same at the moment, guess we'll all just have to wait and see!

Another beautiful sunny day today.  8)

Took a walk past Olive Press today, and no sign of any work...

Nothing happening at Manthos, unless you count my dog trying to chase a cat near there! But I expect they will be up and running for the season.

Pressure washer out today at Elizabeths Jewellers, cleaning their canopies, and scrubbing the pavement!

And cleaning down of furniture happening at Tasty Corner too. Must admit, I'm looking forward to seeing the gyros turning again, here, and at Yiannis......

Sunny day today, with the temperature into the high teens.
Gone a little overcast tonight, so we may have a little shower later.
The sea is much calmer now, after the winds of last week, things seem to have settled back down to that lovely flat, calm sea, that reflects the sunsets so beautifully.

I will go for a walk to The Olive Press tomorrow to see if anything is happening there......

Hi all,

Yet another sunny day, with just a hint of a breeze, this is such a lovely time of year. 8)

Ioanna, I've not seen anything happening at The Olive Press. I know it was advertised as available to rent, but I don't know if anyone has taken it, maybe someone else knows?

Didn't head down to San Stef today, but can report that when I drove out yesterday I did notice that the tennis courts have been done up, and now have a nicely painted green surface, crisply painted white lines, and a new net, so if anyone's feeling energetic.......

Just a light shower this morning, followed by a breezy but sunny day. Fortunately not quite as windy as yesterday.

Silverstar, Grande Gelato decided not to return this year as, unfortunately, they were just not busy enough for what they required.

A walk around the 'older' part of San Stef revealed that the old Sundowners bar has had the front patio re-tiled, and is now painted a nice, clean white, instead of the dark terracotta it previously was. It is really nice to see quite a few buildings having a re-paint, and looking nice and smart....must do ours too, to keep up!!  ;)

We did drive through it a few weeks ago, although I don't think we should of! It is almost finished, just a bit rough on a couple of sections.
Lesley may be the lady that knows if and when it may be open this year.............

Great idea! Hopefully it will be popular.

Well, after a very windy night last night, we had a very windy day! Myself and the dog got sandblasted on the beach this morning! With the wind coming straight off the sea, the waves were rolling in, resulting in a high tide.

Today saw more painting, with 'touching up' being done at Mediterranean Village, and sanding down being done at Thomas Bay.
I was chatting to an early tourist in Arillas this afternoon who commented on how everyone local they've met seem to be wearing paint splattered clothes....it's definately that time of year. The local hardware shops must be doing a roaring trade at the moment!

I wish Yiannis and Maria knew how people have commented on missing Grande Gelato this year....we'd loved to have had them as our neighbours again, but sadly its not to be.

Well, think I spoke to soon about the temperature...today has been a little hazy, with a bit of a breeze, bringing the temperature down to 15 degrees this afternoon, according to the digital temperature guage situated at San Stefanos car hire. But still some sunshine, so mustn't grumble  ;D

But still plenty of work being done, more painting for us, stocking of shelves at Eleni supermarket, and tables and chairs stacked up tidily at Little Prince, all ready for the waiters to dance with this summer!
