The building between Tasty Corner and Yiannis - do you know what they are building?    Re Beer o'clock - don't think the name matters, it's the beer and the food that count.  Agree it will be nice to have another bar in the old part of the village, so good luck to them.

Glasgow even crazier.  Next year we have Thomson, Thomas Cook or Jet 2 to Corfu.
Thomson - 2 adults using same dates 3 - 17 July =   £1337 - absolutely unbelievable.
Thomas Cook much better prices from Glasgow 2 - 16 July = £405 or 6-20 July £615
Jet 2   6-20 July £484.
Where do Thomson's get their pricing from?  They obviously want holiday bookings not just flights, but even so!!!!!!

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Spoilt for choice 2014

Agree about Olympia.  Not busy when we have visted so no atmosphere but the food is good.  Also agree that I don't understand the fuss about Nafsica.  To be fair we have only eaten there once but the service was not good and the food mediocre.   Sorry won't entice me back. Love Waves, Yiannis and Olly Oils.   Plan to try Fantasia this year.  Good reports coming from everyone so will give it a try. As for Romanza would like to try but I think the hill is beyond me.    I'm sure we will all enjoy our own favourites this year and perhaps add a few more to our lists.  As Gav says   each to their own.

Only half a sleep now.  Flying out from Glasgow early Friday morning, so will be up at about 2am - hence only half a sleep, but it's worth it to get there at midday.   Can't wait!! ;D

Where to stay / Re: Gay Friendly Accom....

Jimbo -  Looking forward to meeting you and Gillie.  You suggesting you resemble Sean Connery?
I'm sure we'll share a few beers, but the first round is yours - we are Scottish after all. Ha Ha  :)

Richsnare - same problem for flights from Glasgow - Thomson or Thomas Cook and that's it and extortionate to boot.  This is our first time independent for accommodation and we agree locals should be getting a bigger share.  Hope to continue doing holidays independently in future  as would like to support locals instead of the big companies if we can.  Arriving 19th July.

Bluenosejock - agree with everyone else, can't imagine any accommodation not making you welcome.  Have stayed at Teresa and Rose Garden previously and would highly recommend either.  Staying Anatoli this year, not stayed here before but really looking forward to it.

Thanks for the info Yiannis and D&G.

Looks like it might be another good taverna in the old part of the village.  Have had a look at their menu and may have to add it to our favourite eating places -  Manthos, Waves, Mistral etc.  Might be struggling to get out of this part town this year.  Might just make it as far as Olympic

D&G  perhaps you can post something once you have visited - looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Information and help please / Taverna Close To The Church
« on: June 01, 2013, 08:09:11 PM »
Question for San Steph regulars
Can anyone tell me the name of the taverna which is up the hill past Manthos on the left just before the church and just to the left of Christina Apts. I think it is directly above the old harbour.
Have looked at photos and virtual tours but unable to make out the name.
Has anyone eaten there?
We have been meaning to try it out the last 2 times we have been in San Steph but have not yet managed. That great big hill is far too much after a long hard day on the beach doing nothing!!

6 weeks and 6 days until touchdown

Thanks for any info

Information and help please / Re: Rose Gardens
« on: May 26, 2013, 05:43:49 PM »
Hi Chrissyann

We have stayed at The Rose Garden twice.  It's a lovely place, very friendly and Kiki (the owner) and her family are great. It's nice and quiet;  the pool area is lovely, peaceful and very well kept.  The bar is very friendly and like most places will stay open as long as there is a customer.  Breakfast and snacks at lunch time are good.
We would probably have stayed there this year but it was fully booked for our dates in July, but we certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.    We are staying at Anatoli this year which is at the other end of the village in the old part.

Rose Garden is only about a 10 minute stroll into the village so nothing to worry about.   Of course if it's too hot you can always stop en route at the 3Ws bar for a nice cool drink.

We're sure you'll love it.

Using taxi transfer for the first time this year.  Have had near death experience twice before using Greek taxis, once through Athens to Piraeus and the other on Andros - both scary journeys.    Does anyone know if it is now compulsory for Greek taxi drivers to pass a driving test, or should we increase our travel insurance accordingly??? ;D

No seriously  8),  from all the comments on the forum I feel quite comfortable using taxis in Corfu - unless you tell me different.

10 weeks and counting   :) :)
