I wonder if DB advertises on TA?I wonder if TA get discounts on holidays at DB. OH NO!! DID I REALLY SAY THAT? Excuse me while I go and wash my mouth out with soap.
Or possible in his notes for his university Greek course. Where he would have found that the the Greek for old is "paleo" not "palio". But "palio" might be a swearing version. As you know Jimbo there are several different words in Greek for the word "old" all depending on the noun being described e.g.
Leave me alone. I'm old and frail.
It sounds like a place Kay and I need to go to, but only when we have hired a car!Don't need a car Bee the bus runs up to Avliotes.
To Pailiopaido is "the bad boy" the one they dance to at Zorbas, and other taverna'sMy apologies Waspman you're right, written as one word it does mean "the bad boy" although "palio" is the Greek for "old",
It's called To Paliopaido" (The Bad boy) sung by Dimitris Mitropanos, now sadly deceased (2012)Sorry Waspman but I don't think that translation is quite correct,"palio" means old and "paidon" can mean fellow or chap,so if we are looking for a literal translation it would be "The Old Fellow" or "The Old Chap",think I've got that right.
Surprised Jimbo couldn't find that in his Greek dictionary, very unusual!!
Nikos still picks folk up........ from Barras this summer!Nikos used to work as a waiter in Nafsika in those days,he only had the one apartment block at Tsaros.
I wonder if those who promote the independent bookings do the same back home in Blighty.I book my holidays independently,I shop at Tesco but we buy our petrol at the local village petrol station!!
For example do you generally buy your petrol/diesel from the local independent petrol station struggling to make ends meet at about £1.50 p/l or do you go to your nearest corporate battleship like the Tesco/Asda type outlets and pay £1.36 p/l.
Just asking like.....
Nikos still picks folk up........ from Barras this summer! But he's got a smart mini-bus now,the old red pick up truck was much more fun, throw your cases in the back and jump in and that was before
i used to have a tape called..Play Bouziki but broke over time.bought it from pelie&Marias.Dont see the music on cd much now. They sell CDs at Corfu airport if you can't find them in the village, but if you really can't wait and you need your Bouzouki fix now,
