Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Food, glorious food........!!!
« on: March 11, 2013, 05:38:17 PM »
Yes, i must admit the Romanza Greek night takes some beating. As it dosent realy get going till around 8 the best way is to do a bar crawl.stop at a couple of places that take your fancy on the way up, enjoy the glorious views. You need to take your time so as your not worn out so you can join in the dancing later in the evening when the Mythos and village wine starts to give you Happy Feet.

Thats an interesting site Lesley. But strange as it is, Jetair (Thomson) is cheaper than the low cost companys for us.Thats flying out of Brussels.Ryanair was not an option at all.we got a good price of 290 euro each return, but you have to consider its a shorter flying time, depending where you fly out from in the UK

Hi Debra.  Why not take a look at Peli&Marias, they are very nice and reasonable prices also.
I stayed there last year, and have booked for this year also.   www.peli-maria.gr

was going to mention Pelekas, take a walk up to the Kaisers lookout and see the wonderfull views over the island.
Dont know how your budget is but we used to take an overnight bag with us, take our time going south, all the small roads and see some realy quaint places. If we found a place that was special we would take a room for the night.Just ask in a taverna if you dont see any signes, there is sure to be a room available.Take a look first, then agree on a price.dont be affraid to say  no if its too much.By staying over for a night your not covering the same ground each day.Would say the west coast is the best, once your on the west side you hit the big coast road, not as nice to drive.

 Hi.
Have beeen to lake korrison a couple of times, its a very nice place.Last time i was there you could buy drinks and ice creams from a small shack, nothing else there.on the approach to the lake you will find a couple of places to eat, assuming they are still operating. It can be very hot as there is no shade at all so take some sort of umbrella. We usually take a picnic.

Information and help please / Re: Car rental
« on: January 03, 2013, 07:00:51 PM »
 Hi.
I have rented cars in different parts of Greece and had a slight difference in requirements.
In the high season at a busy resort it may be better to reserve a car before you arrive, as demand is high.Normaly your pasport and full driving licence is required, an id card is normally not accepted. From the big companys you may be asked for a visa or mastercard number to take a deposit, in case of mishaps..then its refunded to your card when returned but watch out it may take a day or two before its back on your account, so if your releying on this money for holidays be carefull you dont go in minus.
I have had cars in SS and have not been asked for a deposit, but all are different.

  hope this helps a bit

thats a good idea jimbo, will keep the locals busy over the winter.dont think its right we give the street names.
Having said this, how would you give a street name lets say for Peli&Marias and many others that are not on a street.Maybe we can just use the post code.
Will look into this further.
On another note, google earth is a good place to be registered again dont have any knowledge of how to do this.cant be too difficult im sure.

Hi Lesley. does the village have street names? for eg, i just tried to review silvermoon, gave all details but didnt give a street name.
It wont allow the review. Been to ss so many times, never think if the streets have names.
Went onto google earth but no luck there.

The last i heard of them was that Mick  was in Sidari doing his diving trips from there. He used to use the pool at Nafsica in the evening for diving lessons. But that must have been 3 years ago at least.

Life is what you make of it, we all work hard for what we get and looking at most of the posts we all tend to put our spare cash into travel and holidays. All wanting to just escape , be it for a long weekend or a week or two.
Jimbo, at the moment Belgium is awash with pumpkin soup, its the most popular in the winter, every garden grows them ,and for venison you cant go wrong. Its now the wild season here, so you get a good choice, boar, venison, duck, pheasant etc and all at good prices.

Good post Tony.Sounds just like i was ten years ago.
I decided to sell up and get out of the rat race, mooved to Belgium, out in the sticks.
A quaint small village, 2 pubs a butcher , baker where you get real bread every day.
Our local bank who dosent hit you with crazy charges.
People who you dont know say good morning and chat with you, and the kids are so polite.
Even have vending machines that sell sweets and beer in the street, never any damage.
Its a totally different life, and im sorry to say but i wouldnt return to the uk to live.
So Tony, live your dream, dont let it pass you wont regret it.
Time to put another log on the fire, let the cats out and enjoy a good glass of red.
