Where to stay / Re: Best self catering accomodation
« on: August 12, 2013, 12:49:01 AM »
Gaynor, We stayed in Nondas last week I just put a review on a few days ago. 250 euros per week for an apartment including transfers from airport and back. Great value and peaceful location with a pool. Micro, toaster, kettle and fridge. . We also stayed at the Olga which is at the other end, with kitchen facilities, it was fine, basic and clean with a pool, only up a little hill. The Teresas was lovely, fantastic views but B&B or half board and only with a fridge and kettle no microwave. My favourite accommodation was Fedra Mare which is very nice, we went in May which wasn't to expensive not sure what the prices are like in summer and it gets booked up quickly. They all have air conditioning.

If you were going to Arrillas walking via the road, when you get to the junction at the top of the hill, where there are a few tavernas and shops instead of going right to Arrillas turn left it is just before the petrol station.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Spoilt for choice 2013

My favourite is The Beachcomber, and loved Two Stars, hubby likes Manthos for the spicy prawns and mussels starter. Andres and Steven are a credit to the place.  Followed by Ozzy Oil which gets better every time. then the Mediterranean Village, the Chinese was good, we met Jimbo and the lovely Gilly there :) In fact everywhere was great.

Is pool only for residents ?

not sure, but did meet other guests who had friends at the pool and weren't staying there. Maybe the same as most places if you buy something your welcome to use the pool, but I cant say for sure.

Hi jaxbubbles.so it was you making all the noise passing our studio every evening.lol.we came home on Monday from peli and marias.we went to tsaros for breakfast a couple of times,to a look in nondas, looked deserted.a good price with transfere included.how was the pool.

Rilo the pool is chlorine free which was lovely. Oops sorry if we made a noise:) I always ended up laughing getting over that wee ladder:) I think most people who stayed at nondas went to the beach so the pool was really quiet.

The dog is definitely not there. I think they were worried they had got a bit bad press on here with the dog and asked me several times to let everyone know it is gone and wont be back!

Would the apartments that they have left hold a family of two adults and two children??

We stayed upstairs which were doubles/twins. The ones downstairs are bigger, Sally let me look at them, they had a double bed, and two twins. I think they charge 300 euros for the bigger apartments. But still a good deal with the transfers included. We paid 100 euros last year for minibus transfer for four.

Good review.

Was the big dog there still?  ;D

€250 a week seems great value, it's on my list of maybes for next August, along with Perros.

Thank goodness the dog was gone, it was Nondas sons Spiros's dog, it was tied up at the little villas they used to own. He stays and works in Corfu town. Nondas said it will never be back!
We think it was great value especially with the transfers included. We had a look at Perros which looked lovely but we liked the quietness of Nondas.

This sounds like a great little trip, especially to escape the heat! We're off in 3 weeks time so think this could be on the 'itinerary'!

Thanks Jaxbubbles  ;D

Out and About / trip to Brewery
« on: August 08, 2013, 04:54:24 PM »
We went to the brewery last Thursday. It was open between 11.30-1pm. As we were staying at Nondas we were half way up the hill already, so we walked along the headland and made our way to the brewery. It cost us 1 euro for the tour which was very interesting. We really enjoyed the beer samples at the entrance ;D also the beer that we bought, along with the ginger beer was only 1 euro a bottle which was a lot cheaper than the shops. It is normally open on a Wednesday and Saturday between 11.30 and 1pm but sometimes it opens on a Thursday. Great way to spend a morning.

Where to stay / Just back from Nondas

We came home on Tuesday after spending a peaceful two weeks at Nondas. My husband and I stayed for two weeks and my sister in law joined us for the second week, we had apartments next door to each other.
The apartments are basic, clean and have everything you could need. Wonderful views over the village. The air condition has a meter which we thought worked out a lot cheaper than the usual 5 euros a day. The way the apartments are situated the sun is only on the balcony first thing in the morning which was great as they would have been to hot to sit in. Plenty storage room. There is a fridge with an ice box, a micro wave, kettle and toaster. No cooker but who wants to cook in San Stefanos!  It cost us 250 euros a week for each apartment which included transfers both ways for the airport. Which I think is very good value for the money.
Sally and Nonda are lovely people. Sally has to be the most hard working lady I have ever met. She would do anything for you and always had a smile for us. I don't think I saw her sit down for the two weeks. Nonda is a great character, he had wonderful opinions about almost everything!! He makes great red and white wine. There isn't a bar but they do sell juice, beer and wine, along with salads, toasties etc which were all very nice. We could always get a beer on the way home.
The hill:- well there is definitely a big hill, just past the Tasaros pool and then down a steep incline. However we did us the shortcut which was great.  Up by the paper shop, Marias and Pelis, down an other short hill, up a three step ladder, over the wall and onto breeze block, through the little garden and up the small steep hill at Nondas. ,It was hilarious after a few beers of a night ::)
Would I go back, yes definitely. We met a lot of lovely people in the Nondas including Sally and Nonda. I hope the rest of the summer season is busy for them.
Forgot to say free Wi-Fi.
