Hi Cassels. We are from Finland, so we are flying from Helsinki  :D Do you travel with children? I have my teenage sons travelling with me. My elder son (16 years) is maybe the most addicted SS fan in our family  :)

We are staying at the Little Prince, also from 19th July, for two weeks. We had breakfast at Akrotiri last summer. Definitely the most expensive breakfast we´ve ever had in SS, but what a lovely place. We took the road starting next to the juice bar. Must try Akrotiri at sunset this time.

The day has come, finally! Within one hour we are going to take a bus to Helsinki. Staying overnight at an airport hotel due to early morning flight to Kerkira. I wonder if I am going to get any sleep at all... Here we come, Little Prince. Keep your steaks sizzling!  :D

Just to be curious; what is the average flight time from London (or the other parts of the UK) to Corfu? It must be about the same than from Finland. The flight from Helsinki to Kerkira is usually around 3 hours and 10 minutes. Although the return flight last summer was only 2h 50 min due to good tailwinds and a thunder storm.. the worst flight ever. Which tour operator do you prefer, which one has the most competitive prices? I take it that you have a plenty of to choose from in the UK.. We have only Thomsons for SS package tours.

Out and About / Re: Boat trips
« on: June 02, 2012, 11:30:50 PM »
Hello. We did the Parga-Paxos trip two years ago. It was a long day travelling by bus to Corfu town harbour and then taking the ferry to the seas, so I wouldn´t recommend it for families with small children.  My kids were 8 and 13 at then and they loved the trip. We sailed to Gaios, the "capital" of Paxos first. We had some two hours there and had a lovely lunch near the market hall. The weather was much hotter than in SS, but I still would have liked to stay there forever. What a lovely, lazy atmosphere... After Paxos we headed towards Antipaxos crystal clear waters. It was possible to go swimming there if you wanted. Again, some amazing views. Parga was the last stop on our trip. Parga is very popular among Finnish tourists, but in my opinion can never beat Corfu and SS  8) We had an expensive and delicious lunch there, the marina area was very busy around noon. Probably the best part of this trip was the voyage back to Kerkira harbour; is sat on the front of the boat with my son and we saw dolphins and some colourful fish next to the boat and heard the sea breeze in ou ears.. Yes, I would recommend this day trip. The only drawback was the rough sea between Antipaxos and Parga, if you are going be sure the take some medication (perhaps not ouzo..)

Excuse me my bad English, but feel free to ask further questions..

Hello Tony and Linda and thanks for welcoming me to the forum as well. I would certainly like to meet you guys during my stay in SS. I usually play billiards with my sons at the Barras before dinner, but I´d love to meet people visiting SS regularly :) The Finns travelling to Corfu usually stay at Corfu town, Gouvia or Acharavi. So most of them haven't discovered the best resort yet...

Don, we´ll arrive on 6 July around noon. I desperately need to have a large pita gyros from Tasty Corner for lunch, but will definitely have dinner at the Little Prince. Maybe see you there..

Many thanks for your welcoming replies (especially Jimbo for the Finnish one)  :)

Hello from chilly Finland and thank you for this wonderful forum! I have been reading your reviews for about a year now, so perhaps it is time to join finally  :) I live in  southern Finland and have visited San Stefanos twice. Now counting days to the third visit which will be in early July.

Thomsons operates also in Finland under the name Finnmatkat. In fact, it is the only tour operator here to choose if travelling to San Stefanos, offering the Little Prince and Kouros apartments. There really must be something special about the resort, as even my teenage sons still insist on travelling with me and enjoy the atmosphere of the village as well. We can´t wait to meet the folks at the Little Prince again.

When it comes to prices; I paid 1400 euros (that is about 1100 pounds) for one week at the Little Prince in July including return flight from Helsinki to Corfu. The price is for one adult and two teenagers. The prices have gone up a bit, as two years ago I paid about the same for two weeks. Each time I have booked early, around Christmas holidays  8)

Only five weeks to go until in San Stefanos!
