Hi there,

I like to drive to SS when I get the opportunity. Obviously now that data is free to use abroad, the easiest thing to do is open the maps app on your phone and get directed in. I usually put Arillas as my destination to avoid confusion.

Cheers

Well, today started with a well organised beach clean up at 10am. Plenty of willing volunteers, locals, businesses, ex pats, and visitors all turned out, as well as a bus load of the local school children, who got stuck in with fantastic enthusiasm!
It is a fact of life here that if something needs doing, it has to be organised by local volunteers, and the organisers of todays clean up did a great job rounding up the troops!
Also, it's amazing what gets washed up over the Winter, including a couple of car parts, and huge ammounts of plastics, in the form of bottles and straws!

Then, later that day, once we were back at the shop getting ready, it was great to see people enjoying the beach, and braving the sea, although the water's not so cold as it has been in previous years, due to the ammount of sunshine we've had this Spring.  8)

Delighted to hear about everyone mucking in so early in the year. 2/3 years ago I was getting a bit glum that the beach tidying up wasn't happening until June.

I'm there for a flying visit next week, so lovely news!

I've booked already for next year too.   4-27 August at Vagelis.   Outbound flights booked, just eyeing up options for returns....

We've never been for more than two weeks, but in a few years we're going to do a month for sure

Two signs on the beach that things are winding down.. the launch boards for watersports were pulled out yesterday evening by the tractor & today the hire boat convoy that glides in each morning is down to one boat!

Oct 2nd and still the lovely weather looks like holding. A few places look like they are starting to wind down, Kostas at Fantasea is doing daytimes now but not evenings. With the sun setting lower you have to be "the other side" to witness it, so Vicky Pool etc. The hotels and restaurants all looked quite busy for dinner.

One thing I will say is that the beach is finishing the season looking as wide as I've seen it in years. Really looks fab.

I'm arriving tomorrow, and I suspect 70% of people will be heading the other way!

We cheered them off from the church. So lovely to see so many men & women loving what they were doing in the name of their village.

Plus of course they sang so beautifully

Personally I love the Pilsner, but they are all good answers

That wouldn't be a bad place to put it as it's out of the way of most properties, quite high up and should be easy to collect from and then clean up.

Fingers crossed they keep it up.

Indeed it is. The massive pile by Marias paper shop is only surpassed by the mountain of rancid trash by the tennis courts. With the beach not being maintained or cleaned very well the village is at risk this year of being badly perceived.

I'm worried as hell as we have two lots of friends coming for the first time this summer holiday. I'll be mortified it's like this then.

I hear rumours of collections, someone even mentioned San Stef. Any word on the street?

Thanks, will give it a look this year

Kostas is an absolute luv, and I think Gravia is my favourite spot. The salads are amazing, as are the milk-shakes.
