Take this conversation to the Yammas Bar if you want it to continue please.

You have turned what should be seen as good news into gutter press!!

Come on I didn't mean for you to stop posting, just to think twice before posting any comments which could be seen as insulting.

You'll all be calling me "Big Brother" soon I can't help it if my name is George and I was born in 1984 lol

All the best

I never like to interfere as I believe that the forum should allow people the opportunity to provide their own honest feedback and comment on San Stefanos.

However, I do agree that any personal comments should be avoided, particulary if they could be viewed as insulting. In my opinion the "rottweiler" comment falls into that category and certainly feel that this post should stop, remember their are two sides to every story.

Nice to hear your views on a 4* hotel in the resort though.

That's right chill out  8) we have always said that when you visit San Stef you are immediately relaxed whereas some resorts take you a while to settle in. That's exactly the atmosphere we want to achieve on the forum.

We have thought about stopping this forum many times following various hacks and spam attacks however, the friendly nature of the members and the friendships that have been made as a result of it has kept us going. Yes, the continual banter can be a pain but it forges friendships that's why we created the Yammas Bar so long may it continue.

This really ought to be pinned on a thread of its own!

Your wish is my command, just don't ask how?? lol

All back up and running. In blocking the Russian IP I managed to block everyone else as well including myself  :'(.

Never mind the cold war is back and Rusky is now blocked!!

Now I know how to do it I can block anyone so watch out lol ;)

Happy New Year

I think its something left behind from the last time. I have just updated the forum from version 1.1.10 to 1.1.11 and the virus came back following this upgrade. The support forum seem to think that it was a file left from the previous virus which I thought I cleared out in July. Still I deleted all files this time and completed a full re-install and scanned the forum using a tool provided by the SMF support so fingers crossed.

I have another problem though, this all started when I noticed an increase in error messages in admin. The error messages show me when banned users try to log-in when members forget their passwords and general errors. I noticed one particular IP address coming up regulary in this so I banned it! Well now this Russian Guest (I can tell they are Russian by the IP address) is trying to view the forum every 15 seconds or so and creating an error message as a banned user every time they do. I am in touch with SMF support about how I can ban this IP address without creating hundreds of error messages, they have given me one option but I need to go away and find out how to implement.

We will get the b@st@rds in the end. I just wish they would leave us alone they have nothing to gain by keep attacking an innocent friendly forum like ours.

Sorry if the forum has been unavailable lately, the virus came back to haunt me over Christmas and needed cleaning out once again. All back to normal now getting used to this it doesn't take long to fix now!!
