San Stefanos news and views / Topic to keep you warm this winter!!!
« on: January 06, 2014, 03:37:00 AM »
No apology to all as I relay a post from another sit long past which will keep me(and hopefully all!!) going through the wind and rain of a typical English winter.....just read and enjoy this extract from a site some of us frequented and if you recognise your eloquent prose,I apologise for copying it!!!

I wake up looking at the terracotta rooftops on the hill behind the Nafsika. The smell of the blossom on the peach trees. The faint sound of Greek radio and clatter of plates and breakfast being cooked. Eating, chatting at breakfast, the heat of the sun building. The haze over the beach - Albania invisible. The beginnings of a heat filled day. The shimmer of the sea - striped in layers of beautiful blue to clear and light turquoise. The smell of the bakery drifting in the quiet and steaming hot pavements of the main street. The feel of the sand as you first clamber on, through those beautiful sand lilies and the wobble of the planks as you walk deep onto the beach. Wandering at the sea's edge by the Mango bar and the strains of music coming from the Havana Bar. The noise of the chicicadas as I stroll past the bottom of the path up to the Romanza. I look back on the village and see the beach curving around the shimmer of the sun on the sea, people look small, umbrellas line up in the distance. Ahead the islands wait. Boats bob around them. I stand still and savour the warmth, the beauty, the majesty of the cliffs and then delve into the sea. That wonderful warm and clear water. I float, on my back and look up to the Romanza perched and along to the Delfino Blu - buildings placed for the sunset. Life slows down, the sea is warm, the sun warms my face. I am free to enjoy the beauty of this simple village. It really isn't the expensive things that make you happy!

In all the posts regarding their best places to eat,the usual (and very nice too!) suspects are mentioned like Olympia,Little Prince,Beachcomber etc. However, when I go back next year I fancy trying 2 places I have always noticed on my travels but never frequented. These are Evinos and Sunset. Both in the newer part of town near "the hill"!!..Has anyone tried these recently and would anybody recommend them as an alternative to the San Stef favourites?

Can anyone tell me where I can access the old hand written map of the town?..It had all the hotels, bars and restaurants on it and I used to have it on my desktop screensaver on my old computer.Cannot remember what site produced it but think I saw it on the old Agni forum. ???

San Stefanos news and views / San stefanos 2014!!!
« on: July 22, 2013, 02:29:08 PM »
Hi everyone!Back again after a bit of a sabbatical but have always been watching out for all the news and updates of our favourite holiday destination!

After a year of no holiday and after just coming back from 2 weeks in Parga this year,my wife and I have confessed that ,even though we had a thoroughly enjoyable time this year, the attraction of San Stefanos is pulling us back for next for next already!!..and being on a downer after a holiday has just finished you just have to start planning for the next one to have something to look forward to!!

2 questions..as next year will be the first year of the two of us on our own as Natalie feels she will be too old to go away with us!..we are looking at the Anatoli Apts just above the Kamini bar for a studio/apt for two.Can anyone give us some feedback on them?

Secondly,as 2 of our previous 4 years to San Stef were done independently, can you give me an idea what the cost of flights were with Easyjet etc this year for flights in July and August if they were booked as soon as they came out.We will be flying from Manchester or Liverpool.

Hope we get some feedback as I really want to get back into looking forward mode as quickly as possible and have this site for my daily holiday feel fix!! ;D ;D
