If anyone is looking to book a car, I can highly recommend Value Plus. As someone who has restricted mobility, I was having difficulty getting in and out the car supplied, but it was replaced with one suitable after a couple of days. A puncture was also quickly sorted, all done with a smile. It was also the cheapest I could find on the web.

We finally made to Mythica tonight and can thoroughly recommend it. My wife had moussaka (€5.50), of which she is a bit of a connaiseur and enjoyed it. I had stifado (€6.80)and it was one of the best. Just wish we had gone earlier in the holiday as we are running out of time for a return.

The fireflies are out in force at the moment. Watch out for them if you are coming soon. Almost as good as people watching, and not seen as often.

If you are coming to Corfu tomorrow, your flight may be delayed. There was a 2 hour strike at the airport today, 14th.

Yes I am in San Stef. Waiting all over. Haven't any news yet as not long here. First stop - a big Mythos (and that's exactly what I'm doing). Will have news of prices, changes etc before too long.

Out and About / Best Map

I have just received the map from "Mapman" which was drawn, by hand, by him. He includes his reasons for taking on such a daunting task. He lived on the Island and using all sorts of map, frequently got lost because roads shown did not exist or were only tracks. The result is very impressive and he guarantees all roads shown do exist, although being some years old, new roads may have been built, or tracks upgraded. One example of this is the road which by-passes Sidari is shown as a track. I would have no hesitation to recommend this map if you intend to drive in Corfu. Good to see the exchange rate improving.The mid-market rate this morning is hovering around €1.126/£1 (on xe.com) and has been creeping gradually upwards for some days now. Long may it continue. There has been some speculation the rate is due to rise further towards mid summer. We go in 23 days so I am keeping a close eye on the rate, and will buy as soon as I see the rate starts to fall (if it does). Fortunately I still have quite a lot of euros left from last year which I bought at €1.25 (oh for the good old days!)

Hi all.
Has anyone any experience of the degree of the mozzie problem in early May. We arrive on 9th (much earlier than any previous visit) and are staying in Olga again. Can't wait, but like to be prepared. Have lots of experience of dealing with them, so don't need advice on that. I have read through other mozzie post, but it seems to have degenerated into "friends dis-united" and has no info about early mozzies.

We are not long back, but have already booked for next year. I've looked for car hire & found Corfucars 4hire, which seems very reasonable, but wondered if anyone has used them before.
