Out and About / Paxos /Antipaxos
« on: March 28, 2017, 07:14:06 PM »
Ok this year we have decided that we'd like to take a boat trip to the above islands. I presume that tours are from the harbour in Corfu Town, which is not a major problem as we will have a car. But it would be good if we could get a tour from San Stef. Does anyone know if this is possible? Do I ctc Noula at San Stef travel? Has anyone done it and if so was it worth it? We are in resort the last 2 weeks of May

Thanks
Jane

Information and help please / The Islands
« on: January 18, 2015, 08:09:39 PM »
We always stay in San Stefanos, at the Romanza. Last year we visited twice, we always have a car and now book direct with the hotel. Last year we drove around a lot and saw a great deal including the South of the island and Lake Korrisson (not worth the trip if I am honest).

So this year when we visit in May, we would like to take a ferry across to the Islands off the NW coast.

We are not bothered which one, but would like information on how we:

a) get there
b) places for lunch
c) places to walk to
d) best island to visit.

Thanks for any info you can give.

San Stefanos news and views / Going back
« on: September 23, 2014, 11:22:31 AM »
Never thought I would be able to say that! After a truly fantastic 2 weeks back in May, which left the 2 of us with severe holiday blues, we are going back on Thursday, just for a week. We've booked direct and our flights and hotel for the week are so much cheaper than Thomson want to charge, that is was a no brainer. Picking car up at the airport, driving ourselves, can't wait, so excited.

We are going to try and visit the Theotoky Winery, for the sum of 5E you can have a tour and tasting, again a no brainer.

Hoping that all our favourite restaurants will still be open.

San Stefanos news and views / Up to date weather forecast please
« on: May 08, 2014, 11:03:38 AM »
I have been looking on line at the weather forecast for the next 2 weeks and I must say I am more than a little disappointed.

The forecast for the next few days looks lovely, warm and mostly sunshine. For the following 7 days, cloud, rain, heavy rain, thunderstorms. The day before we go home sun again.

Those out there what are your views? I have repacked our cases with warmer clothes, instead of all the lovely summery one I have bought.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Recommend Restaurants - all prices
« on: April 28, 2014, 04:39:39 PM »
It is 11 years since we last visited, so can you all recommend places to eat? We really liked the Arillas Inn, but I understand that has now closed.

Not just in San Stef, but further afield, we have a car. We are just a couple, but open to all types.

Thank you for your help - we travel May 9th for 2 weeks.

Out and About / Calculating spending money
« on: March 24, 2014, 04:30:39 PM »
As it is 11 years since we last visited and not sure if we were using euros back then, can someone give me an idea of how much we may need to survive! We are on B&B basis, so will need a snack for lunch (meze) and a meal in the evening. We will need to buy fuel for the car and maybe the odd present to bring home.

I was looking at £50 a day (approx 60 euros) - do you think this would cover the 2 of us adequately?

If someone could give me a rough idea of costs of things I would be grateful.

Out and About / Introduction
« on: March 11, 2014, 10:11:43 PM »
Hallo guys - I am new to this site, but not to San Stefanos.

We first visited in 1999 and again in 2003, both times staying at The Romanza Hotel. We loved the hotel and the area.

So we are returning in May this year, without our son who is now 20 and at uni. We are again staying at The Romanza and we are really looking forward to it. I have found out that one of our favourite restaurants in Arillas is no longer there.

How much difference are we likely to notice in the 11 year gap?

What will the weather be like the middle 2 weeks of May?

We will have a car and we would like to see more places - Lake Korrison, is it worth the drive, will we see many birds / wild or spring flowers? If not is there anywhere that you recommend? I am not able to walk far, so it would have to be accessible by car.

Thanks for your help.
