San Stefanos news and views / New for 2012
« on: March 07, 2012, 07:12:44 PM »
while over there for carnival, i heard there is to be a new restaurant in the village. the site is the old bar 38 place, its going to be a chinese.

i know this causes a big divide with some people saying you go to greece to eat greek food, yes i agree and i love the greek food, however we all enjoy a chinese at home now and then so whats the difference when there, personally i think it will be nice to have another option. And its good that the building not staying empty, and someone is having a go at something different, so i for one will be trying it out.

San Stefanos news and views / Teresa's 2012
« on: May 30, 2011, 05:02:38 PM »
Hi all,

Having just returned from a glorious San Stefanos and Teresa Appts i thought i would update you all, as i see questions being asked on here.

Leo and family have decided NOT to go independent next year and are staying with Thomsons.......however Leo has told us it is going to be ALL on B&B basis................however looking at Thomson site for 2012 there are still various options available so i am not too clear on this.....will  update if i find anything else out.

Prices are more expensive than this year it seems and i wonder if this will stop people from going which would be a great shame for Leo and family......i hope they drop a little in the coming weeks.

We had yet another fantastic time and the weather was the best for whole 2 weeks we have had in May, i actually got mistaken for being Greek one day due to my tan.....ha ha !!!

Hope this is useful to anyone, and for those staying with Leo soon, perhaps you could tell him that Thomsons website is not as he thinks and maybe we can get it cleared up so we can all get booking again !!!

Cheers

San Stefanos news and views / corfu airport facilities
« on: September 13, 2009, 06:33:37 PM »
Hi guys,

on this one occasion we are going with Thomas Cook and not our preferred Portland - the flights are through the night both ways.

I wondered if anyone else has been at Corfu airport during the night ie about 3am !!!

Will the duty free shop be open and will we be able to get a coffee ??

Cheers

San Stefanos news and views / return visits this year
« on: May 29, 2009, 10:34:23 PM »
Well, i have normally been to SS in May and September. This year we had the 2 weeks in May but due to unexpected holidays used earlier in year and finance concerns, we hdnt booked our return visit for Sept and were not looking forward to the prospect of not going bck this year - greedy i know.

However, just 4 days after being home, myself and mate Jo have now booked a week 18th - 25th September !!!!!  yippeeeeeee !!!! feel so relieved now !!!!

We thought, sod it, life its too short to worry about crap, and so just booked it !!!!

However, we always go with Portland and stay at Teresa BUT.......Sept prices this year are ridiculous and have not come down at all. That week was £414 with Portland - we have had to go up the hill with Thomas Cook to Kapetanios (£290).

We would prefer to stay at Tereza's but hey its 30 secs up the hill and we will still spend all our time down the road, so its not a problem.

Oh yeah and Don arrives the day we go home !!!!  Some may say that is good planning......but we will defo meet for a drink before we leave. x

San Stefanos news and views / reporting back
« on: May 24, 2009, 04:21:13 PM »
well guys, back home  :'(

First of all, it is still the same wonderful, laidback, sunny place that we all love so much.

There are a couple of new things going on :

MYTHICA =  my good friends Jenny & Leo (from Romanza) opened their new restaurant. Located to the left at junction and virtually opposite Yiannis Grill. A pure delight, gorgeous food served with fresh vegetables instead of rice or chips. Good home cooking with an extensive choice and is no more expensive than any other restaurant. A touch of class. Do visit them and tell them Sarah sent you !!

MAMA MIA- opening night is monday 25th May. Pavlos from Zorbas, and is next door to Zorbas. the old Mexican. He has been working very hard the whole time i was there to get it up and running. Looks very nice and am sure it will be of the high standard that is Zorbas.

UN-NAMED AS YET - small bar right next door to SAN STEF Travel. looks like it will be a nice place to chill and watch the world go by. looks very close to finishing.

Well it has been a strange start to the season, most places are booked up, but there never seems to be many about at night. The locals are worried that people are not going out spending in evenings. There is some concern there for survival this season, so come on guys go spend some money. Also the sunbeds did not appear on the beach until the 16th may, this was due to some auction for the pitches on the beach and some arguements, why not do that in the winter then ????

Weather has been great for May, we had a couple of cloudy days but they were still hot, as we did the marathon walk to Avliotes and back !!!!

As usual have been greeted back by all our Greek friends and treated like royalty, and have once again met some lovely people, also met people who stayed at Teresa when we did last year. So all in all it has been a great fortnight, and now we are dying to go back again.

If anyone wants to ask anything please feel free, am sure i can help out with any queries.

P.S Nothing has gone up over there fronm last year, inc Ciggies etc so thats good for us.

P.P.S  Met MIKE T from this forum, and his family, a pleasure to speak to. x
