San Stefanos news and views / anyone for yoga?
« on: July 14, 2015, 01:49:24 PM »
I know that this is not strictly San Stef... but if anyone feels like doing a bit of gentle yoga then there is a brilliant yoga class on at the Athos bar just off the junction on the way down into Arillas. (Opposite Kostas supermarket).

It is led by a delightful young English woman called Sarah who is very encouraging and takes your own abilities (or lack of!) into account. Classes start at 6 - 7.30 on Mondays and Wednesdays and take place in a lovely little studio by the pool.

Well worth a visit! I thoroughly enjoyed the class and came away feeling even more laid back than I usually do in san Stef which is saying something!

San Stefanos news and views / pool etiquette
« on: August 18, 2014, 02:51:12 AM »
Opening a whole new can of worms here ......
I have been going to as for 15 years now and have had extended stays all over the village Over the last couple of years I have begun to notice a marked deterioration in the behaviour of some families around pools. Parents allowing children to virtually take over a pool area by screaming and shouting and water bombing.     In the past two weeks in particular in 2 pools that I use regularly there have been families that have totally dominated the whole area with no thought or consideration for others. I know that several other people at these pools feel the same as I do but wonder if other forum members have noticed this development.

San Stefanos news and views / Hungarian Beatles at 3W
« on: July 28, 2014, 05:50:40 PM »
Had a great night last night at 3W. The place was really busy and buzzing.

I have to say that I have always been more of a Rolling Stones woman, but the group that are on at 3W doing a Beatles tribute act every Sunday  are really brilliant entertainment.

Apparently they are all Hungarian! but whatever nationality they are they are very enthusiastic.

Well worth a visit,  even if it's only to see the wigs!! ;D

San Stefanos news and views / what is going on
« on: August 09, 2013, 09:59:01 PM »
Lots of people were asking earlier about

Entertainment in the village  . The usual tribute acts are on in the Condor and Acabar. Also Groucho is about on his own in El Greco and with Keith in Athens bar. SAD that Darren isn't at 3w but the act that is there on a Sunday night is good ( lots of rat pack stuff) and Margarita has introduced a 60"s 70"s and 80"s music night on Monday. All in all there still seems to be something for everyone.

We have friends coming out to San Stef in July who are both foodies.
I have suggestions for them re eating out but wondered what other forum members would list as their own "must visit" places if you only had one week and wanted to demonstrate all that SS has to offer.
I think I would go for:
Olympia
Nafsika
Ozzy Oils
Beachcomber
Waves (for fish)
Mythica
Yiannis (or whatever its now called) or Zorbas

with stops at Tasty corner or the kebab shop opposite entrance to road to Athina.
suggestions please.

San Stefanos news and views / report on last week
« on: November 03, 2009, 12:06:12 AM »
Just arrived home after a brilliant week in SS. Stayed in Theodosia .... all alone .. very spooky!
Monday 26 arrived at 21.00 and went to tasty corner with Noula for a quick snack then up to Tsaros pool.
Tuesday , on the beach and then out in evening for last night at bar38. (Was on my way to eat somewhere and never made it!)
Wednesday, on the beach and out to Gouvia on a mini bus with other English who were there for Noula's party. Lovely night with Mark and Nigel (there to do Mark's houses up), Sandra and Mark and Pat and John.
Thursday, beach, and 3w and Nafsika.(This was the final night at Nafsika)
Friday ..... guess what... beach... and then up to Tsaros pool for a party for George (80th!)
Saturday, Noulas balcony, then Beachcomber. (last night there!)
Sunday, wonderfully hot... up at Tsaros during the day and then Tsaros and 3w to say bye to everyone.
There was nowhere else but Town Pizza open and by the end of the week there was nowhere open at all apart from 3w in the evening. Bit of a ghost town! By the time that i left this lunchtime i think i truly was the only tourist in the village!
Also saw Glenn and Maria while i was there. Maria is really blooming and looks very healthy. They closed up on about Thursday too.

San Stefanos news and views / sneaky late visit....
« on: October 23, 2009, 11:47:27 PM »
Off back to our favourite place on Monday!
I know its late and next to nothing will be open but got an invite to Noulas 10th Anniversary party which just happens to coincide with half term so I have got an easy jet flight from Bristol and am off!
Have been warned to take my thermals and a hot water bottle for night time but the forecast for next week looks better than here!

San Stefanos news and views / a big thank you
« on: August 26, 2009, 04:55:49 PM »
Just returned from a month in the lovely san stef and had a somewhat unusual holiday as literally within an hour of arriving and unpacking stuff at Theodosia I went ot to supermarket for essentials (wine, water, wine, mossie stuff, wine...) and on my return fell down small hole in road. I thought that I had just sprained my foot as it was such a little fall... however it transpired that I had broken it! I was alone for two weeks before partner arrived and ferried me about in the car. I have some very interesting tan lines and showering with plastic bin liners over plaster casts is not an experience i wish to repeat!

Anyway, just a quick thanks to all who were there at the time who helped me to get about and not feel alone or stranded whilst there. A particular mention to the ever helpful and delightful Noula who took me to hospital, went shopping for me .... and yes did bring more wine, took me to a greek and italian festival in Arillas and made me hobble down the beach to a beach party!

Also thanks to Glenn who was ready to install a ramp for me and frequently announced that his bar did not serve cripples!
Everyone was briliant from the five lads who were staying in apt underneath (learnt all sorts of new rap words whilst sitting on balcony listening to them.... not sure what much of it means but probably just as well!) also Colin (Hendrix) and Mark (Woody) who made me laugh a lot.  Hilary and Spiro at bar 38 and Margarita and Chrysantho at 3 w were also incredibly kind. Everyone was just brilliant !!! but then in SS would we expect less ??

PS Corfu hospital A and E something of a nightmare and best avoided if poss!

Looking forward a less painful experience on my return at half term!

San Stefanos news and views / prickly heat
« on: June 02, 2009, 01:00:08 AM »
Someone, I think it may have been Don, was asking about medication for sun sensitivity or prickly heat. If anyone was thinking about getting the tablets that i found really helped me with this they need to be got on prescription and are called Telfast 180mg. You need to start taking them for at least a week before you go. Just thought I'd mention this as I know lots of people are starting to go now.... lucky for some!

San Stefanos news and views / must see/do/go to
« on: April 03, 2009, 11:19:30 PM »
We have got friends coming out to join us is ss for the second week of our holiday. What do the rest of the forum think are the most important places to see/to eat/to drink etc to give newcomers a real flavour of ss in just one week? It will be strange trying to see the resort through "new" eyes. Suggestions v welcome.
