Out and About / Away from the Village
« on: April 27, 2016, 09:37:31 AM »
3 weeks for us this year, so we're planning a couple of days away from the village. We've been going to Agios Stefanos for more than 30 years and we have seen lots of the island but I'm embarrassed to say and although the following are in the north of the island and not that far away from the village we've never been there - this year we will.

1) Mount Pantokrator
2) Old Perithia
3) The 3 Durrell Houses
4) The other Agios Stefanos

Any places you've always said you'd go to and this year are determined to actually visit?

Where to stay / "Won't stay there again"
« on: October 27, 2015, 02:32:58 PM »
So after 30 plus years of going to Agios Steffanos we've stayed at loads of different places. I think I've only stayed at 2 or 3 places where I wouldn't stay there again.

Not going to name them but one year we stayed just past 3W, before the turn off to the industrial laundry - well before the Peris. Bedroom was facing the road I was kept awake all night by traffic going to the laundry. Had to go to the nafsika pool to sleep once the sun was up!

We all love the place but yes you have to be a bit careful when it comes to lodgings.

Information and help please / Pandora - No Not the Bar !!
« on: July 08, 2014, 03:06:59 PM »
My wife wants to buy a Pandora Bracelet and a couple of charms this year.

Does anyone know if we may get them from Corfu Town?

We drive in to Corfu town halfway through our holiday, to pick up our daughter from the airport. It would be nice if we could buy the bracelet from Corfu, - memories and all that.

By the way; driving to and from the Airport it so easy, to get to the airport just stay in the right hand lane at the big junction wher the port is on your left. Return is just a simple case of going right out of the Airport and following the Port signs and driving up around the old fort /Port, turn right at the big junction on the road to Gouvia.

We do it every year and spend the morning walking around Corfu Town, the BIG problem is parking and then trying to find the car again!

Where to stay / Leonidas

Been walking past these Villa's for years, next door to nafsika, behind the Olive Press.
Always speak to George and everything seems really nice. So looking forward to a couple of weeks there very very soon.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Eating away from Agios Stefanos
« on: April 19, 2013, 07:40:27 PM »
With all the fabulous places to eat in Agios Stefanos we very rarely venture too far out.

We do go to a couple of nearby places however.

1) Afionas - Worth going for the views but I don't believe the food to be that great, just ok but not what we're all used to in Agios Stefanos.

2) Avliotes - There is a small Italian / Pizza place. It's run by 2 brothers. It's really good and also has nice views over the valley. Sorry but I can't remember the name. We usually take a scooter up there have a slow lunch and then go on to Sunset Beach in Peroulades for a cold beer (ok 5 beers) whilst sitting on the giant swings.

So where is your favourite place for a nice lunch?

Here are the ones I'll be frequenting (In no particular order):

Gravia
Akrotiri
Havanna
Mango
Waves

San Stefanos news and views / Another Year
« on: April 17, 2013, 08:08:34 PM »
Another season is around the corner and it won't be long before the forum is full of the same old questions:
Which will be first??

First Meal - It doesn't matter, food is great everywhere

Best Restaurant - Everyone will have a favourite (I'm a Nafsika guy)

Cash Points - yes there a 2, but everywhere accepts cash, cards, chickens and goats.

Exchange Rates - Please stop trying to save .00001 of a euro, it'll drive you mad!

Hills - Yes there are a couple, I’d only ever bother climbing the one to Akrotiri and Gravia.

Wasps and Mosquitoes - Yes, sorry.

Arillas - Hmmm really, not for me.

Local Beer - Yes very nice, aren’t most Ice Cold Beers nice when it's 35 degrees plus?

Trips - It's worth booking with Noula just to see the girls!

Whatever you do you will have a great holiday,

Benson, (30 year veteran)

Information and help please / End October
« on: September 11, 2011, 07:38:39 PM »
Hi,

Been to Agios Stefanos many, many times but never at the end of October.

Me and the wife were looking at a long weekend in York or Chester but Ryanair flights mean that it's cheaper to go to AS.!!

Has anyone ever been the last week of October ? It's the last week of the season I think.

I'm wondering if it will all be open ? And what kind of weather we can expect (don't expect a tan top up !)

4 nights with flights, accomodation and car hire £350 - bargain  :)

Thanks for any comments
