Yesterday morning the pound reached 1.20 and Thomas Cook offered 1.171 so I quickly got down the local store and exchanged £1200 worth.

The pound has since dropped back to 1.18 so I think it was a good call, I can't see the pound rising above 1.20 this side of Article 50 being triggered.

Bloody Brexit!

OMG just when you thought it couldn't get any worse the pound this morning collapsed following aggressive selling in Asia, at one stage reaching 1.09! It's since risen to 1.11 but this will still imply a bank exchange rate well below 1.09.

At this rate the pound will soon be worth the same as a Zimbabwe dollar!

Forget Tasty Corner next year it will be too expensive, instead I foresee forum members dividing up a loaf of bakery bread while watching the Eastern Europeans living it up at the Little Prince!

It's desperate Jimbo, managed to get my Lanzarote holiday money at 1.13 on Monday before the pound went into free fall.

Hope something turns up before next spring otherwise I will be joining the que at Tasty Corner!

For those of us who like our foreign holidays Brexit is a disaster.

Oh well, I hear Skegness has a good beach.

I always buy Euros at Thomas cook, no commission and no hassle, today they are offering 1.16, the question is will it rise further? I have based my late September holiday money on 1.15 so anything above this is a bonus. I wonder if Jimbo is hanging on for an even better rate? What do you reckon Jimbo?

Barclays are forecasting the pound/euro rate to rise to 1.30 by spring 2017.

Today the bank rate is 1.17 and you can get nearly 1.15 by ordering on line at Thomas Cook.

Maybe the worst is behind us?

Use air conditioning in your apartment, set it to 20c the little buggers hate it!

Jungle spray from boots is best out and about and the jungle spray after sting is also very good.

Not sure about all the theories but I am sitting on the beach in front of the Havana now and I can't believe how wide it is this year, best I have seen it in 5-6 years. At a guess I estimate the beach is  40-50 meters wide in front of the Havana and further along the beach its big enough to accommodate 4 lines of sun beds.

It's great to see and a vast improvement on the last few years.

There is a lot of sea weed in front of Waves Taverna that will need clearing but all in all the beach is excellent and litter/rubbish free.

As Tony Blair said yesterday the Referendum was like moving house without viewing the new one!

This week the Brexit crew are finding out that the new house hasn't even been built yet and the land is prone to flooding!

Happy to report that the pile of rubbish near to Maria's Supermarket was removed last night, must have been in the early hours as it was still there when we walked back to our villa after midnight. Still rubbish at the entry to the abandoned hotel on the main strip, hopefully this will be gone tonight.

That's great news! Many people will be pleased about that.

The backlog will take some time to clear but at least things are getting better and the authorities must have found somewhere to put the rubbish. I heard on a Greek website translated through Google that a new land fill site had been found 'in the mountains' probably an old quarry or something.

Anyway I am really pleased this is getting sorted and just in time for my next visit in July.

Please keep the reports coming as hopefully other piles of trash will be cleared.

Hmmm, think I will give the beach a miss when we visit in July, it wasn't in a good state in June and by the sounds of it nothing has improved. :'(

At least it will be nice, clean and rubbish free at the Kapetanious pool. :D :D

Does anyone know if the ATM'S are working in San Stef.Saw that some islands were not exchanging sterling at hotels and ATM'S were not giving  out Euros? BTW, got 1.16 at local Thomson shop today! Sorry should have put this in the topic re Euro rates! Der, in holiday mode already, brain has gone to sleep! ;D

I was in SS last week and all the cash points seemed to have money in them, I had to go twice due to an overspend!

Any update on the Bins front?

With 33c temperatures those piles of rubbish must be getting a bit smelly by now!

If Remain had won the pound would be 1.40 against the euro now.

This Brexit is a disaster for my holiday plans and will cost me an extra £500 going to San Steph and Lanzarote during 2016.

Jimbo, we agree on this one, it's a bloody nightmare that can only get worse.

I was in SS last week and the situation is desperate as it is across the whole Island including Corfu Town, it's only a matter of time before the UK press get hold of the story and run it which would be very bad for the Islands tourist season. Hippo pots is right, it's because of the closure of the land fill site in the south of Corfu although it seems crazy to do that and spread the problem across the entire island!

Let's hope common sense prevails but with the summer heatwaves coming the situation could become very serious and will pose a genuine health risk.

It's all so very, very sad :'(

Pound jumped today after higher than expected inflation figure, Thomas Cook offering 1.22 if you reserve online so I am tempted because the pound will likely fall again as the referendum approaches.
