Can't see me on a quad somehow !!!! We actually went to Sidari (and were supposed to be in San Stefanos) in July last year the Thomas cook rep said that we could not get to San Stefanos via bus and e would have to ge a taxi she sad it would cost us 25 quid each way too for the taxi.  I will never use Thomas Cook again ever.

When we were double booked and ended up in sidari we were told there was no way of getting to an from Sidari other than car or taxi? Is there a bus?
Is this true or is this another example of ThomsCook bendidng the truth?

Where to stay / Thomas Cook NEVER again
« on: August 30, 2009, 11:21:48 PM »
My bf and I were supposed to stay in San Stef in July for 2 weeks.  2 days before we flew TCook rang us to infor us that due to "contract trouble" we could not stay in the Mythos apartments and they had booked us into the Andromeda Perrloudas.  if we were not happy they said they would cancle the holiday which would have been fine if I had a choice of holidays but because I work in a school I am restricted so we had to go.  When we got to the airport they told us that the Mythos was "flooded" When we arrived at the appartment they had just been cleaned and on close inspection not very well.  there was a plaster on the floor in the bathroom the toilet was blocked they had missed behind the door and the  cutlery/bottle opener were all rusty.  The 4 chairs were also coverd in damp mold.

I did not wait for the reps meeting and rang TC who sent a poor boy round.  The next day the rep came and had a go at me for complaing and said they were the best appartments in corfu taht never have complaints, so I  showed her the apartmenst and she seemed to think that it was perfectly clean.  I then showed the cutlery and the chairs "oh thas the way they are stored in winter and the chairs and things get like that" I dont care how basic the appartmenst are I like them clean that is all I ask.

We the asked to move and we were told taht we could move but it would cost US 360 euros but thery would throw in £60 each for the incovenence.

i was not a happy bunny but we made the best of it and had an all told great holiday but with no help from TCook.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Have you eaten here?
« on: August 30, 2009, 11:05:54 PM »
Sunset Taverna is a little place overlooking Roda? that we were taken to after coming down from the highest point.  We had a FANTASTIC meal there and it had beautiful views.  Well worth a visit.

Canal d'amour is where I ment we ate there the 1st week as we didn't discover Perroloudas until week 2 we then fell in love with there the quaint little houses and the old men sitting outside the shop.  The shop that stank of moth balls.  It seemed realy greek to me and was a world away from the tack of Sidari

Out and About / Trips A review

After going to the Thomas Cook welcome meeting where they told us " don't go with local tours as they will leave you there" we decided what the hell we will go anyway.  We had three trips with a local agency based in Sidari.
The 1st was to the monistry and Bella Vista which was a great day out with a good mix of slight culture and beach fun.  All for 8 Euro.  We had 3 hours to kill in the beach resort and so we rented a pedlo I would highly recommend.

Next we went to the highest point NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! We set off in rickerty old bust with a driver who thought he was in formula 1.  I am not someone who gets scared but at that time I was scared.  When we got to the top (eventually) we were pleased as there was the most beautiful scenery.  We then went back down the mountain and stoped and ate at Sunset Taverna a fantastic place with great food, service and views.  It was not overly expensive eather.  Trip cost 6euro

Last trip was to Corfu Town I was dissapointed and did not enjoy the place.  We did however go in the Asian fine arts museum which was good.   Trip cost 7 euro return

After a cock up from Thomas Cook we very reluctantly we stayed about 2K from sidari in a place called perreloudas.  I would just like to say I was surprised by how nice the non strip area of Sidari was for food we did not have a bad meal there and stuck to the tradtional looking places not the fish and chips for 5 euro places.

Perreloudas is were we had our best meal by far in the first restaurant you come to we had 4 brill meals there, the waiter does nopt speak english but can understand the order.  He was the 1st greak we met who did not have any English.  It was also poular iwth locals which was good.
