We’re giving San Stefanos a miss this year and doing a once in a lifetime 4 week tour of Australia in October.

Will miss our home from home this year but will be back in summer 2025 all being well

Ridiculous prices for 2023, 1 week self catering at little Prince in June from Norwich £610 per person

I think this is the tip of the iceberg. The war in Ukraine and subsequent economic shocks are going to price most families out of having any overseas holiday. In the months to come £610 per person may look like the bargain of the century sadly .... hoping I'm wrong :'(

Judging by the video on the web of the storm (Ballos) that hit on the 15th I doubt Corfu will be back to normal for a while - awful for the folk there! Jimbo was lucky to miss it, else coming back may have been a lot worse!

From what I've been reading San Stefanos and the north in general got off relatively lightly from last weeks storms. The south from Benitses down to the Messonghi/Lefkimmi area took the brunt of the storm. Some of the businesses down that way have taken a bad hit with all the flooding, looks bad from some of the pictures I've seen.

Enjoy Jimbo, we just missed you and left on the 16th.

Nafsika was magical as always albeit a bit quiet. Spiros was on top form and he has a fantastic team behind him this year ... was especially impressed with Vasselis the barman and hope he’s back next year.

We stayed in Vagelis’s apartments as usual but took his winter home for a change which is right above the old supermarket overlooking the Nafsika pool, 1st time we’ve used this villa and have booked it for next year.

Weather perfect, a few cloudy days and temperatures not oppressive like July and August, a bit cool in the evenings.

Food delicious and welcome from everyone overwhelming, the locals were genuinely pleased to see us.

The transfer to the resort and return trip home wasn’t as stressful as we expected, mainly thanks to my other half making sure our paperwork was in place,  everything went smoothly at both Corfu and Edinburgh airports.

Roll on next year .... 8)

So it looks like the 1st Jet2 flight out of Edinburgh took off early this morning, although it may have stopped off at Newcastle to pick up further passengers.

With that good news along with my Vaccination certificate arriving yesterday, it looks like we will be on our way from the 2nd September at the 4th time of trying

Here's hoping there will be no further setbacks between now and then!

Theodora’s Moussaka is legendary with regulars who eat at the Nafsika.

My personal favourite is the lemon chicken and my my partner can certainly recommend the fish dishes served there

The government has got itself into a right old mess over this. Something is either legal or not legal. I think we all grasp this. Jumping off a fifty-foot cliff into the sea may be risky, but it's legal.

As I se it, it's not the going that's illegal or dangerous - it's the price tag for coming back. I'd replace the categories with:

RED = GOLD. £1,750 per person for a stay in a crap hotel watching daytime TV (probably extra), plus about £350 in tests, plus pariah status.
AMBER = DARE-YOU. We can turn this to GOLD anytime we feel like it. Think you're clever? We'll make new rules before you've had your first Mythos.
GREEN = OH, GO ON, THEN. There's nothing in the school rules that says you can't eat chocolate biscuits. But we won't like you. In fact, we hope you get Herpes so we can say "We told you so."

Sums it up pretty nicely Jimbo ... and cheered me up too!  ;D

Just imagine, wakening up to that view every morning, it is absolutely stunning. Looks a wee bitty overcast today, and rough looking sea.

I'm starting to like this new view now :)

What a cracking day today, blue sky and the water is like a pond, your going to get some beautiful sunset views from this camera position once the sun is at its maximum and setting over Mathraki around the end of June  8)

Well not exactly surprising and what we were expecting, JET2 have now cancelled our flights on 21st June. However, as they've done for the previous two times last year, no hassle and we get a full refund in the next few days. I've been really impressed with their customer service during the pandemic.

Now trying to get in contact with the villa owner to see if we can re-book in September when hopefully the travel situation will be a bit better, at least we will both have had our 2nd vaccination by then.

4th time lucky?   ;)

Hi Steven - sorry to hear that. If it's not too rude a question, how old are you? Can you move to August/September?

Hi Jimbo, I'm 60 in March which is not the problem. My partner is 11 years younger and its going to be touch and go on whether she gets her 2nd dose before June. It very much depends on other factors i.e. what approach the Scottish Government takes to overseas travel.

Later in the season is an option although my other half is not keen and would just prefer to re-book for June 2022  ... will just need to sit tight for now and wait and see.

11
It’s looking increasingly likely will will cancel again as I can’t see both me any my partner getting the two vaccinations before end of June, add to that the more strict approach the Scottish Government is appearing to take in regards to overseas travel.

It’s going to be a tough one to take as that will be 4 years disruption on the trot for us, last year was obviously COVID and the previous two years sadly due to family illness/bereavement before we were due to fly.

That pool is going to need a serious clean before the spring......what a colour.

Not to worry ... the pool gets emptied, cleaned and refilled in time for the summer opening in May. You will see a hive of activity around March/April next year.

Morning Everyone, How many of you have a ritual of checking out the webcam every day to see how AS is doing? Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and hopefully looking forward to a normal 2021  :)

Every morning Monday to Friday 1st thing when logging on to work, even before reading any work emails etc. Its the only thing that is keeping me going at the moment  :(

It's hard to tell from the angle we're looking at but is the pool empty?

There still is and certainly was a few days back as I was able to see a few ripples reflected by the sun when it was low in the sky. It's just that dark green due to the filtering system being switched off. Spiro usually empty's, cleans and refills the pool in the early spring before the first guests arrive, so not to worry, all being well he will have it back to its clear and sparking best in time for us returning next summer when COVID will be a nasty memory in the past ... here's hoping!

Just look at that blue sky today  :o :o :o, and the green pool  :(. Still a few peeps going about too.

I'm guessing the pump or filtering system that keeps the Nafsika pool clean will have been switched off a few weeks back. Its been sad seeing the Nafsika shut this season and really hoping we can all get back to some sort of normality and Spiros can re-open the hotel next summer.
