San Stefanos news and views / Teresa - new policy
« on: December 16, 2010, 06:28:28 PM »

Regular visitors will have received Teresa'a e-mail advising their intention to 'go it alone' in 2012, ie ditch Thomson and let privately.  Rates quoted are e150 per person per week (studios) and e160 (b&b).  They cannot be blamed for seeking to maximise returns on their business but will seriously effect those who cannot find an acceptably-priced flight only.

Furthermore, if it works for them, how many others will follow?  What do you think?

Ask at Sunset.  It may not be on the regular menu but Maria cooks daily 'specials' and welcomes requests!

Fully agree with Sunset recommendation - stayed there two years ago.  Nice apartments and although no sea-view, good to watch passers-by in the street!
Great family, when we went the rate included one-way taxi fare.

Where to stay / Re: New to site and San Stefanos
« on: August 27, 2009, 06:59:38 PM »
Ref. Teresa B & B.  Yes, kettle and 'fridge are there.  No hair-dryer or cooking facilities but good general accomodation, especially the proper shower.  Loo paper on arrival only. Only downside is lack of view (S/C site has this) but it is quieter being shielded by the front building.

We've stayed at Teresa many, many times and love it - especially the welcome from a great family. We were there in May and will be again on 18th September.  Maybe see you?

Loved the very detailed gastronomic write-up - almost as much as you enjoyed the food (and wine).  Pity you didn't get to Sunset this trip; delightful family and fresh greek home cooking by Maria snr.

Also, we seldom see mention of Stamatis's fabulous pizzas.  Of course we all enjoy the greek dishes but once-in-awhile a break is good and his Pizzas are (I think) better than anything to be found in UK.  A great caharacter is Stamatis but don't get him started on politics!

Where to stay / Re: Hotel Romanza
« on: May 04, 2009, 06:52:31 PM »
Never actually stayed there but know it well and have friends who have.  Great views, nice people and excellent restaurant.  A steepish walk back from the village - less noticeable after a good night out!

If you've been before you will know that the weather and forecast weather is reported from Corfu town (airport) and usually bears no resemblance to the West coast!

We're going on the 8th May, staying at Teresa as usual.

Where to stay / Re: Villa / boutique style hotel in San Stefanos
« on: April 14, 2009, 06:56:48 PM »
Don't think there is anything quite so up-market as Delphino's!  The best hotel (probably) is Athina but this is half-board and I gather the food isn't spectacular.  Very nice B & B is Romanza, a little way up a steepish hill norther of San Stef. Anywhere else is adequate and I can't speak highly enough of the village - it just feels good!!  I've been to Crete too but come back to SS everytime - there again next month.

OLGA sells 'scooped' ice cream cones in interesting flavours - with sauce!

Kamini Bar is a pleasant spot for a drink and very popular with ex-pats and summer-long residents.  Michaelis's wife is English and they spend the winter in Cumbria!
